Do you first let something happen between you and said buddy's sister and then breach the topic to your buddy, or by guy code is it required that you give him a heads-up and give him a chance to cock-block the situation before anything happens?

And this isn't a one time bang kind of thing... that would be unacceptable regardless of situation. But if it's a girl you're looking to get into a serious relationship with, how do you make sure you don't fuck things up with a good friend?

This is one of those "unspoken word" things. You're not supposed to go after your friend's sister.

But really, if you're a good guy and not a dog, he should be happy about you rather than some dude he doesn't know and trust.
