A good sleep.

I was downtown today and found that there were already some pretty good deals to be had. Everything I bought, from Kenneth Cole sweaters to a wireless mouse to hairspray was on sale and I wasn't even looking for reduced prices when I grabbed them.

Boxing day is the biggest scam ever; you can have the same deals a week before boxing day.

I'll wander into future store and worst buy at some point in the day to buy whatever cheap blu ray movies that I can, maybe some cheap ps3 games if there are any.

There are actually some deals you won't find at any point in the year. Case in point: 32" Sony M4000 tv for $399.99 at futureshop. While not that GREAT of a TV, it is decent, and stupid cheap. You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal for that cheap, which is why a buddy of mine will probably grab one. Also, staples has Acer netbooks with XP and 16gb for $300. You can't get that anywhere else, its usually $400 (or more) with XP. My father is going to try to scoop up a netbook.

As for me, I just purchased a nvidia 7600gs pcie card for $44 from futurecrap. Should do well enough for me. I am also eyeballing the bose headphones for $79.99 at futureshop. I bought the exact same pair for the ex last year, and they were $129.99 (and its like a freakin' orgasm in your ear)!

For the most part though, boxing day is a ripoff. The only really good deals are usually A) stuff going out of production (hence why its so cheap, but buying what was high tech a year ago is always a good deal) B) Discounted refurbished stuff. I just so happen to not mind either, so works for me!

I don't know about Calgary, but Kelowna malls have a lot of stores giving an additional 50% off lowest marked price sales already. It's not just on specific items, it's the whole store.

The "Deals" get worse and worse every year. Nothing has remotely interested me to go stand in line for. Even these 50" Panasonic Plasmas for $900 aren't that great of a deal. They are old Visions had them for the same price last week.

I'm planning on hitting up Speedtech see what's happenin, then over to futureStore/worst buy for a new TV, maybe some other stuff. All at around noon or so.

Visions is selling the Onkyo 706 for $678. That is a pretty good deal.

You could probably haggle that price, but who the fuck wants to do that.

WTF, why would it be in the flyer for boxing day but already say sold out?

duh.... maybe because it is a boxing day sale and the inventory is only going to be available on boxing day?

well why would they not post that then, instead of sold out? maybe "waiting for inventory" or some shit like that would make it a bit more clear. it threw me off, so im wondering if other people might feel the same?

www.ncix.com is the only site I shop from on Boxing day. They have SERIOUS deals.... serious discounts on wicked PC parts, you can grab 4 gigs of ram for prolly under 30 bucks, a 1 tb hd for under 100 easy, sale starts today 3 pm online.

03ozwhip
12-24-2008, 01:15 PM
i was also wondering if anything in the boxing day flyer can be bought online, or is it in store only price? and what about buying multiples? the specific tv doesnt say limited to one per person, does that mean i can buy more than one?

Agreed, Visions even had a $1 DVD Player last year as a door crasher... nothing worth freezing your ass off for. Big deal, get an old model 42" TV for 700.... fail.

Dude, all the flyers say that the offers and prices are good on Boxing Day, and that the sale starts on Boxing Day. So why the hell are you freaking out? If you think about it, they probably delisted stuff so that morons don't buy now and try to price match on Boxing Day.

You know what sucks? Visions.

Last year, we went in very very early to get the door crasher deals. The bastards only allowed us to buy 1 hot ticket item. Which was totally retarded cuz we stayed there so long and its obviously not worth it to stay there for just one thing. The year before we were able to get whatever we wanted. Pissed me off so much.

Anyway, this year the deals suck ass. Nothing good at all.

The only thing I might be get is like dvds or memory cards, which are pretty cheap.

There is supposed to bea 40" Samsung 1080P tv for I believe the same price (though it might have been $799) depending on if you want to spend a little extra or not...I was at FS today and thats what they told me.

The 32" Sony Bravia for $700 is the 1080P model. The $397 Sony is their bottom barrel 32". My buddy just picked up a 40" Toshiba LCD with 1080P from visions for $750 (the same one is on sale for $799 at best buy, which is the one I think you are talking about). The Toshiba is a bitchin' deal IMO, get Best Buy to price match it with visions. Model number and everything matches up.

It's an ok price, Nikon & Canon DSLRs do not really go on sale unless the model is discontinued. Usually the most you can get is some free stuff along with the camera or the retailers would bring down a little bit on their sky high price like Futureshop :dunno:

wrong, the 6416 has an hdmi port as well. They are the same box other than the 6416 can also tune in analog channels as well as digital. Motorolla saved a few bucks omitting the analog tuner in the 3416.

And thats what played out today.

Marketing is great. Retailers get rid of shit stock and ripped-off consumers feel like they got a deal.

Best Buy as usual did their shifty tactic of offering different prices online than in the stores. I was excited to pick up some House at 34 bucks (as advertised, opposed to $60) after driving uptown but left pissed and empty-handed.

You sure they just didn't get around to putting an updated price sticker on it? Last year I had a similar situation but it still checked-out at the advertised price.

I didn't even bother because it's happened to me before, but I'll call the store tomorrow. I've actually never had it work out in my favor like that when working with Best Buy :p.
