So I have a 1080p file that I want to stream to PS3 .. the audio works but I get a blank screen for video .. this is the first time this has happened to me .. not sure how to fix it .. I tried changing the profile from 5.1 to 4.1 but that didn't work .. I have other files that are 5.1 and they work so I don't think that's the problem .. any ideas?

Sounds like the file format isn't supported by the PS3. Like when you play an avi file on a computer without any codecs, and all you hear is the audio.

what type of file is it?

MKV .. but I converted it with mkv2vob to MP4 first then I tried m2ts .. all my other files work .. this is the first one that hasn't .. the audio works fine .. I just don't get video

hmm, have you tried converting it to mpg?

Have you tried Windows Movie Maker to convert? I used it to convert my MKV files to WMV so my xb360 can read them.

^^ I don't think WMV plays on PS3

Tried that now .. same thing .. I wanted to use RipBot264 to encode the video but it doesn't work properly

Yeah .. I tried just using the MKV file and Tversity transcoding it but it won't use 5.1 sound .. picture works though doing it like that

I code all my MKV videos to MPG and they work perfect with my Tversity. I've never tried using MP4. Try converting it to MPG.

I have tried all the containers .. MP4, m2ts, vob, mpg, avi .. none of them work .. sound works this way but not video .. when I just use tversity with the MKV .. it will show the video but sound doesn't work :nut:

How about media player? I had Tversity for a while but uninstalled it. I use Media player. U need a registry patch for the wmp to see the mp4...never run into any problems after transcoding with mkv2vob!

One thing I noticed, whenever I add a file I always throw it into it's own folder then add it. I found throwing mp4's into existing folders that have already been added to wmp will sometimes result in file not been seen by ps3.

Media player is messed up for me .. it will show the MP4 but it only plays like 5seconds of the file .. only normal xvids work using media player .. I tried that already anyways .. it does the same thing .. plays audio for a few seconds without video

Do all your other videos work?

Maybe its just that one file? Or is this the first 1080P file your streaming? I personally haven't tried streaming 1080P I usually stream 720P.

But have you figured out how to fix the video chopping problem? It's almost like the ps3 is buffering when the movie starts chopping up.

Yeah I hadn't tried 1080P till now but that's not the problem .. I'm not sure what it is .. I grabbed The Matrix, Hancock, and Enter the Dragon to give 1080P a try .. 2 of the Matrix movies didn't work .. I think I might stick with 720P .. didn't notice too much of a difference .. I don't have any problem with streaming because I don't use wireless .. I tried wireless and it pretty much unwatchable .. it's continuously buffering

So do you have your router connected to your PS3? What router are you using at the moment?

Thanks

your PS3 has latest updates?
I've read that open torrent program and peer guardian will hinder playback.
Maybe your pc don't like 1080P?

PS3 has latest FW. I don't run any torrent programs and the videos play fine on PC just not PS3.

Finally got the videos to work .. I split them into 2 as well as taking out the subtitles .. then I made mkv2vob transcode it to m2ts .. I first tried MP4 but it wouldn't play .. I don't think I had to split the files just make it transcode but whatever .. works now  .. so do that if you ever have problems with video
