Type R(b18c) Engine Oil

Hi guys,
Just wondering if you guys can help me what engine oil should I get for my b18c engine. I used 5w30 Full Syntetic before and it burns out really quick. Today I'm planning to oil change and I don't know what to I get.

Most I can see in the internet is 10w40 but I still want to get my beyonders point of view

i wouldn't go 10w with this weather we are having...

Welcome to the world of VTEC...the B18C drinks oil like a baby drinks mother's milk...


There is really no way around this outside of keeping it out of VTEC and higher revs....If you have been doing that and you still are going through oil like the Exxon Valdez..then you should be looking for leaks...or maybe the motor is on its way out...


But I use 5W30 on my F20...and have no issues outside of hard driving...

My car got inspected 2 weeks ago, no leaks, no motor problems no mechanical problem.

My mechanic (option import) told me vtec usually burn oil.(especially when hitting vtec or redline)

Its just the fact that I want to change my 5w30 to something else. I guess I will just stick to it then.


so I can use 10w40 at summer time right?
