List cars you guys like for $7500

i know the choice is mine, but i wanna see what everybody finds the best for fuel efficneincy, aftermarket, pimp lookin ride, easy to work on, and reliability.

i personally believe almost any engine is reliable with proper maintenance. Thats why i want a car thats gonna be easy to work with...

so lets start brainstorming team! :D

rx-7's arent really good on gas and i heard are a bitch to repair.

I'll take some of your money for my car :)

Hakkola
10-02-2003, 03:00 PM
Old school benz is one to stay away from if you ever have to do repairs, I still haven't fixed my cracked headlight it's like $300 for one frickin headlight. Not to mention for 7500 you'd probably get something from the early 80's.

Those old integra's are nice, or a VW, Ben's car is pretty cool.

Canadian 2.5RS

I would go for a 1G DSM and put the rest into mods.

randedge
10-02-2003, 06:56 PM
Good condition MK1 MR2 NA for $5000

The inevitable maintenance items for $500
Tokico Illumina shocks for $800 ( 200ea)
Used 15x7's for $400
R compound tires for $800 (maybe less)

Then go Autocrossing in Super Stock class.

Eric Happy Meal

1g eclipse, 1g rx-7, R.E.P.U, mk3 supra, 510, RX-2, RX-3, grand national, old beetle w/ rest in mods would handle the best and be the fastest tho. itd handle better than all the cars with equal mods as well.

The early 7's are dirt cheap and a good car( I know I am biased...)..But here is a rundown of my 87 n/a rx-7...its a pretty good car, and rock solid dependable...
It was found dead in on a farm, the engine was condemned by 2 shops in Calgary..
Original car cost 1300.00
Repair ignition and tune up 200.00
Repair front end 400.00
Build header 50.00
Dynomax cat back 550.00
Tires and wheels 1400.00
Rear wing 200.00
Install basic stereo 300.00
strut bar 150.00
rear shocks 150.00
seat repair 40.00

Thats a car I have driven very hard, and would drive anywhere without hesitation..

so with about 2760 left over, one could go stand alone efi, and maybe squeeze in a port job if you were to do it yourself..Not the fastest car, but damn fun.. And there are tons of them around for about the same price..

My TII..
Car was a write off..
87 TII 2000.00
Repair Damage, about 600 in materials..
Running car , with approximatly 225 rwhp at that point..then I went overboard on it, but thats another story..max

when i get old enough to own a car(haha) i hope to get a 2nd gen rx7 and mod it(Not heavily, just comfortable for streets, i.e. not too much in speed, but hp is good, and good suspension)
is this too much of a hassle for someone who didnt know what a rotary engine was 4 months ago?(ie i dun know shit about fixing cars)

Not the fastest thing in the world, but once you drop it and put some monster dish rims on it, you will be cruisin in style getiing 50+ miles per gallon .

Overall though my advice would be to buy a car you want, not what we want.

I wouldn't think you'd have much problem getting a 95-96 civic coupe for what you've got. Im looking a lot at civics for my next ride and the range im shopping at (99-02) a 99 runs ~$8500-9500.

This is dealer-pricing too, so if you find a person selling one privatly you could definitly drop about 1k off those #'s.

Or better yet, go and buy an early 70's 240z for 2 - 3 grand, spend a bit restoring her, so shes in mint shape. Then drop in a crazy engine of your choice considering that you can fit anything from a 454 big block to an RB26 in there.

If you want max speed/hp... Mustang + 3000 worth of mods and not much will touch you. Ever.

If you want to drive forever + cheap gas + save money... Sprint Turbo :)

GT Style... you might get an old SHO for cheap? (Dunno 'bout this).

Pimp style... Caddy! My friend dropped an old suicide door caddy for around 10K, very sweet. :bigpimp:

'Rice' style ... Gotta be the good ole Civic + $1 coffee can + various stickers etc.

Old style... oh yeah, a 1957-9 VW Ghia. Dunno what you'd do in the winter, but hey, you'd be one of the few.

No, there is no law against it. However, if you were bright enough to read other, more recent threads, you'd have noticed that he now owns a Saturn SC2 coupe. This thread was started to give him ideas on what's around to buy in his price range. Guess what, he already made his purchase.

How about you back off and stop acting like you're "all that" :drama:

Ok, I will re-phrase. I have been here longer, and learned quite a few things. One thing that people normally don't do on beyond, because it's completely useless 99% of the time, is bring back old threads. In this case, the original question was from 403G, asking what cars he could be looking at buying. Since this is thread is over a month old, he has already bought a car, therefore anyone's further opinion in this thread is irrelavant.

So what if I have 3 posts? It probably is an indication to YOU that you should probably get off the forums and get a life maybe? :dunno:

Not really, it's a nice car and everything don't get me wrong. But it's such a fat piggy. The RX7 just seem so much more fun.

RWD, lots of HP, light. And cheap :) I didn't care much what happened to it, just thrashed it for 30K, really solid too. I don't know why everyone complains about rotary engines. Just change the oil, don't boost it too much, and don't starve it for fuel (ever).

Now that's a good idea, good on gas, looks old school cool IMO, lots of potential and toyota reliable; ahhh the hachiroku, or hachi-go:love: An S13 is also good for the same purpose as the 86 and easy to find. The altima is also a good idea but IMO mid 90's are girlie cars (flamesuits is nice and comfy) don't get me wrong they can be turned into super manly cars but mid 90's in regular form a tad bit "feminine". My car also has that "feminine" look as well.
