I wouldnt buy a used vehicle from some tiny little used lot, it's rare that they ever get any decent cars.

Few yrs back they tried to sell me a fwd impeza telling me it was awd. Could have just been a rogue salesman trying to make a quick buck...

Nope.
I would never purchase a vehicle from one of these places.

Well... if I get a VIN would I be able to ask my insurance company if its AWD? Im sure I could get the correct model out of it..

LOL what are you looking to buy from them? it better not be that same Impreza haha.
Just crawl underneath, look for rear diff and axles going to all four wheels if it is supposed to be AWD. I would avoid buying from a sketchy place such as Downtown Auto Sales if at all possible, but if you must...
A) carproof it.
B) take it to a truested mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. They can check everything that could/would/might possibly cost you money in repairs in the future. Have them do a compression test to get an idea of how much life the engine has left.

Its a Murano, and the car only has 98000 on the motor. Apparently AWD, I was already planning on checking to make sure it had a diff/driveshaft to the back.
I just want to make sure its an SE not an SL that im buying.. I know that both have AWD options. I dont know if the SL had a nav package option though...

No. Earlier model Legacies were available with FWD.
Common misconception and one I believed until it was googled about 30 minutes ago.
Oh, please don't buy the car there. With the current used car market you can get a really good deal in the private sales and no GST either.

i would go look elsewhere.. like i just did a quick auto trader, they are selling around the same as that dealer but come from higher up dealers or privates.. rather then a shaddy used car lot..
ok here is a link for a 04, AWD 76K and for 19,000

small independent car lots shop at the same auctions as the franchised dealerships, they are governed by amvic as well, and i think downtown auto sales has been around for a long time,so it should be a safe bet, like any other car busniess they are likely willing to deal, they can also offer extended warrantys. There are some advantages to buying a car from a licenced dealer, they can not misrepresent that car at all,or a quick call to amvic could cost him his licence, you buy privately and you have nothing, and you cant allways trust private sellers either.

I think the SL's do come with a Navi option not to sure but you should check on that there basically the same SE and the SL. You can get a year older for a lower price by atleast $1000-$1500 just look at those ones and there more trusted than these cheap dealers that buy majority of thier cars from auctions.

um sketchy is what I would call it...
I've bought parts from their Mechanics, not sure if they're Bosnian/Croatian.. well some sort of former USSR guys
Buying parts and such, not a big deal
buying a car? Wow, would I ever make sure I did my homework, as they were restoring a totally wrecked MK4 GLI.. I mean wrecked, no quarter pannel... being re-worked and welded back on
I didn't see a frame straighter or anything

It sounds as though his decision has already been made.

If the price is fair and the vehicle looks decent, have it inspected by a Nissan dealer you trust and they'll be able to give you a bit of a heads up on whether or not the vehicle is mechanically sound. Also, maybe get someone with carfax to check out the VIN for you and see the vehicles history.
Regardless of what lot it's on, all that matters is the condition of the vehicle and the price. Even the crappiest little lots have decent cars among the junk, it's just up to you to find them. On the same note, some of the bigger lots in town have a lot of eastern auction garbage immaculately detailed and selling for top dollar. Spend your time researching the vehicle and it's condition vs. the lot. Your relationship with them is done when you trade the cash for the keys, you'll have to live with the car a lot longer.

Went there once, the car that they had was total garbage and they tried telling me that they had no clue where it was from yada yada yada! The car ended up being the most rusted piece of shit like it was at the bottom of the ocean during its entire life! The salesman seemed a little shady too!
