I just bought some Alpine Type R 6.5" speakers for my front and rear. Has anyone ever had any problems with fitting 6.5's in the front door's on their CRX?? The back of the speaker hits the frame that holds the glass in the window. What can I do??

Best bet is to make some spacers.

I have Phoenix Gold 5.25", and no contact at all.

3/4" mdf frame... i had to do it with mine... just take that plastic ring thing out... trace it... cut it and youll be good to go.

Once you take out the factory speaker and their enclosure, there is tons of room behind the door panel and grill.

yup... but it was a pita trying to get the spacer under the door panel.. if u can take the door panel off, it would make it so much easier.

I think that's my problem, the magnet on the Type R's is huge. Won't fit.... too deep into the door panel.

Is the spacer designed to move the speaker out more towards the interior of the car?? After you do that will the stock speaker panels fit back on??

What I mean is take out the stock speaker and enclosure, make trim rings out of 3/4 mdf, then mount you other ones. Should clear easily.

I tried stuffing Pheonix Gold saffire's (6.5") didn't work at all. The magnet is too big. You can only build it out so that it doesn't interfere with the window op. or change up the speaker
