Well, every year I generally get away from the cold ass Calgary weather, and hit up a warmer spot.
This year, it was the Turks and Caicos Islands, (Provo)

http://www.islandbrides.com/maps/loc_turks_caicos.gif

I have about 200 photos from the trip, but mainly putting up landscape photos. Any photos of myself and other people usually involve stuff I'd rather not be on the internet haha ;)

Enjoy!

As I said, not posting up pics of people..
And yes, it was quite packed..
The pics of the beach were taken at about 5 PM, just as almost everyone had left.

Is Canada gonna take over these islands already or what? It's been in the talks for years.

haha, yea.

Although the islands are more or less controlled by a few people. This corporation basically runs everything on the island from what I've heard.

Looks like a nice place Norman.

Nice, I was just NW of you on Great Exuma.
Was it windy for you most of the time?

It was actually pretty good. No more wind then what was expected, but not crazy.
It only rained twice during the 3 weeks, and it was short half hour spirts.

There was some good stuff that went down.
Some hilarious stories and drama going down (some involving me, but I won't get into those right now) :)

One of the dramatic stories just out of interest.
So every night at Turtles Bar (pretty well where everyone hung out at night), we would always talk to new people, meet new people etc. So one night a few days after New Years, we met a mid 20`s guy from the Northern States. In our group`s chat with him, we made it out that he was single, (at least he made it out very clearly that he was)
After him being at our group table for an hour or so, he excused himself to get another drink, and chat up with some new people. So about 11, 11:30 or so, we see him leave with a girl that we know. It`s vacation. No biggy. Shit happens.
So about 2, 2 and half hours later, he and the girl come back into Turtles Bar, hand in hand.
And who is waiting for him at the bar? None other then his wife.

I wish I had my camera that night to capture that drink being thrown.

Soo many little stories like this, that just make everything a little more interesting for the rest of us :)

^Typical island scene haha. Always fun to watch LOL.

Was at the Marriot Resort on St Kitts just a couple months ago, this drunk as shieeeeeeeeeeeeet Texan lady who had attended a wedding that day was searching for her husband. She was freaking out and crying because he'd been gone for a couple hours. She described him ("he's wearing a bright orange Texas Longhorns polo...you can't miss him...please please if you see him come tell me I am at the front desk").

We're just leaving the main building to get back to our room and we see this drunk guy in an orange polo walking/stumbling on a treadmill in the gym. He can barely walk but he's just there in his sandals on the treadmill watching TV with headphones on. So we go to the main desk and tell his wife that we found him.

Conversation goes as follows:
Us: We found him, he's alright.
Her: Where is he?? he's probably passed out on the beach isn't he.
Us: Actually.....you might not believe this...but he's in the gym.
Her: That bastard. I KNEW IT. He's on the treadmill isn't he. I should have checked there first. That f'ing bastard. He will do anything to make ME feel fat.

She runs off to the gym and we watch from a distance. She goes up to him, yells for 20 seconds, then slaps him with THE HARDEST SLAP I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. Like full arm windup....and then SMACK across his face.

Reaction a mix of :nut:,. Damn americans.

Even though I was a little distance from where you and Ekliptix are I felt the weather was cooler than usual down in the WI. Quite windy, waves were huge, and overall chilly/rainy weather. In my 2 year time in the area I have never actually felt COLD until this December. Was walking outside at night time and actually felt that a jacket was needed. Even in St. Maarten, the waves were much larger than usual and wind was high throughout the day.

I'm wondering about the Turks....mostly Canadian tourists there or a large mix? How is pricing in terms of accomodations/food/transport etc (ie: is it total tourist RIP OFF pricing or can you go someplace and eat a reasonably priced meal that actually fills you up).

I've found Dominican to be the windiest. Turks was pretty good. I wore long pants at night and was comfortable. Not hot, but not cold. Just right.
The girls wearing shorts/dresses at night complained about being cold even though there was no wind (that's where I came in and warmed them up :bigpimp: )
Mostly Canadian's yes. Alot of North Eastern Americas (New York, New Jersey area mainly) Only met one family from the UK.. But over 50% Canadian's.
We stay at All inclusive resorts so can't really comment on pricing of other things. But I know it's a very reasonable island for eating out, taxis etc compared to an island like Bermuda where everything is twice as much. Definatly not a rip off. Very good valued island. I would recommend going as this is my fourth time to the T&C islands

How much does a trip like this cost? With the all inclusive you mentioned? Looks like a nice place to go.

If you want a real private island feel, head to Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos.
Lots of movie stars there.. Bruce Willis, John Travolta, and many more. They all go there to get away from it all. Very exclusive island. I think about $5k US a night to stay at the small hotel on Parrot Cay.

EDIT: At the resort I was at, I met Vanna White!
