First i started off pulling the motor.
The last motor that was in there was completly rebuilt
and yet it only last 12 000km on 9PSI?

Doesnt make sense, so it was either the motor or the tune.

Either way. Time to try it all over again.

I pulled out the motor.
took all the parts off
and now i am sending the head out to get checked and repaired if it needs it.

My new b20 bottom end

The pistons and internals look to be mint so im excited to try it out.

Im gona start everything off by cleaning the motor as best as i can.

Looks like you had some exhaust leak on your current motor. 12K on 9PSI sounds like a bad rebuild or bad tune, or both.

You run that much power on the motor, expect it to break faster especially with a bad tune or build.

Been running 20K on 7PSI with no problems.

Seems like a lot of work to do the wire tuck :D

Anyways, you mentioned that you will be installing a "custom" traction bar. Is someone going to fabricate it for you? Let me know, I am interested on getting one made.

thanks guys, yea a wiretuck is alot of work, i only did the min wireing harness and the wires to the headlights.

32 on the passenger side
28 on the drivers
i put about 22 hours in 3 days to do it i got final pics on the way.

and yeah a custom traction bar, rite now i have a avid traction bar. have broken it 4 times off the frame rail. its very poorly desiggned. i will upload my drawing for a traction bar tonight and show you my idea and the current one.
And gretz! dont be suprised if i hold you to it! i actually need some fab work done aswell, my manifold has a horrible crack on it and i was going to see if it was repairable.

im hopeing to get around 240tq and 300whp on 12-15psi

derek_k
01-15-2009, 01:06 PM
but then again i might try a map for 21psi and aim for 360whp on race gas at the track.

Nice build! Do you have any more pictures of how you ran your intercooler piping? Did you end up ditching the washer fluid tank?

Jay, I haven't forgotten ya. I still want to hook up with you, I'm just running short on spare time these days.....

It looks like it is running from where the washer reservoir used to be (standard routing).

Yeah, I still have the parts for you if you hold on to the parts I need from you too :)

BTW, to solve your tail lights condensation, you need to purchase the foam gasket that sits in between the tail lights and the body. I think it's $20 or $40 from Silverhill Acura.

Sebasshole
01-16-2009, 11:23 PM
yea i did look into the full race traction bars and obx. but i decided it would be faster and easier to just make my own.

And yes i removed the washer tank and ran it through there.

The charge pipes, down pipe and exhaust was made from Jason Lange

some more parts i aquired.

power fc now waiting for power fc boost selinoid
frog harness
coilovers too.

And it looks like i need a new turbo or rebuild.
and possibly a new clutch.

anyone know how much allamo would charge for a full rebuild?

or any advise on what would be a good upgrade for a turbo.

Your car is seriously in pain. Isn't this that DA_1.8T/honda/teg's old DA? The wheels from your CRX are from that DA.

yea exactly why it needs a rebuild. everything is being changed cause of his shotty work. needs new coilovers wheels turbo engine, basicly the only good thing about the car is the paint

Are you in the deep south (Sundance/Midnapore)? I think I've seen you driving around. That's Drago (or Darko)'s old car? I thought he had it tuned by rage2 or something.

Sebasshole

yea, thats it, yea tuned by rage 2 but somewhere in the tune or the motor being rebuilt, something failed.

Are you planning on making that traction bar as a bolt on? If you can make one for the right price, I might be interested in one.

Out of curiosity, what will set yours apart from the one that you took out (and the ones already out in the market for that matter)?

Sebasshole
01-19-2009, 09:13 PM
my last one kept braking and mine is going to be mostly welded in cause of the damage my old traction bar made.

a typical traction bar just goes down on a 3 inch peice of steal.
no support for when the wheel draws closer to the firewall when you have wheel hop. mine is in a tianguler form so that when it tourqes back it is supported and shouldnt rip itself off this style should be alot stiffer to keep the wheels in place i supose. im sure there are traction bars out there that work great like the obx, but since my last one was welded in and had to be cut off, im safer bolting it in the areas i still have and welding it.

Nice going and it's always great to follow along with progress builds like this.

My opinion on clutch flywheel is that you've got it out and plan to make bigger power, so for the cost of a flywheel and clutch combo I'd personally just replace it anyway. Just me.

I think if you getting that much wheel hop you should get a 3-bar tune, so you don't spin so much and the coilovers will help a ton. Personally I would still go with Full-race for the traction bar

If you notice, i can no longer bolt a bolt on traction bar anymore since the factory bolt holes are no longer there and behind the metal plates i have welded there is no structural support. so getting a full race traction bar and getting it to bolt on is not poissible. I now have to make my own custom traction bar and design it to mount up and be welded into place.

Hopefully get it done this weekend so i can assemble my motor and toss it in.

kolumbo69
01-22-2009, 05:59 PM
Well I assume it would be just as easy to weld a full-race one in place rather than bolt may want to call them. Just my .02

frozenrice
01-22-2009, 07:05 PM
^^^True - might be easy, but I'd think that it'd be a waste of money to buy something as costly as a full-race and then render it unreusable by welding it. :dunno:

hey everyone. i actually have decided to part out my project. I cant justify putting anymore money into a 20 year old car. Im thinking of buying a new car, so if anyone is intrested in my parts, shoot me a pm. the car is for sale. it will be completly stock with a b17 gsr motor and lowered with the skunk 2's if they dont sell rite away. 5000 OBO for the car in full running condition, i will keep you updated on returning the car back to stock.
