I like how lower down he has to ask where the spring even is on his car.

Doooood, if you can't find the spring, maybe don't mess with it.

He should just get a fat girlfriend to lower the car. Plus it be fully height adjustable with each Big Mac...

The best way to lower a car is to just remove the springs completely, springs are for suckers anyway.

Before you all laugh, they actually have spring clamps that are designed to "lower" the car. They also make spring separators.

http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/MRG1280.htm

I used to lurk on e46fanatics and people have actually put them on their cars and had success.

Not saying I would use it or recommend it, but it is real.

wow, it sounds like in theory it would work i suppose, but it still sounds like a ghetto dumb idea, i wonder how his car will feel taking corners and speed bumps, gunna be a rough ride

This guy shouldn't be allowed near his car.

This is no more dumb than me when I was 16, thinking I could use standard nuts and washers as a substitute for proper lugs...

Ok... maybe it's SLIGHTLY more dumb....

Its like American Idol. People NEED simon to be on there. You sound terrible, GTFO.

They need some beyond style posts on there.

I've heard of people doing this to get older cars lowered.. older cars with a trailing arm design, leaving in the standard stroke shock. When they hit a bump, the coils just fall out :P

wow some people are so fken cheap, well he says 'I'll try to take a picture later when I'm home. (I know I'm being confusing)' so we'll have to see what level of retardedness this guy is at

Lol... no, I didn't. My better judgement kicked in and I went to a wrecker and got the proper lugs. But it was pretty close.

But I had an excuse... I was young an inexperienced with vehicles. I can only hope the OP in the link has the same excuse.

Either way, this guy's giving Alty owners a bad name. If he had a Civic this would all make sense....

staggered is actually not bad in FWD car as long as the wider wheel is up front to help combat understeer

Because he's asking a genuine question.

Sorry though, but which is more retarded? Buying something that is genuinely on the market for what he is doing, or tinting your front windshield? I think the answer is pretty easy...

Those have been around for years. They're not a spring compressing tool they're el cheapo lowering kits for cars.

I think JC Whitney or Crappy Tire stocked them.

But the price of lowering springs have become so cheap now, it's not even worth considering this method.
