i recently purchased an alpine in dash dvd deck(iva-d105). i installed it already but i cant seem to get it to play dvds or CDs for that matter. i know you have to cross some wires for it to work, just wondering what colored wires have to be crossed.

thanx beyond

It should play cd's no matter what, to get DVD's to play,

You'd have to wire the:
- yellow with black to ebrake
- i BELIEVE it's the red with black to brake light

For that deck, you have to have brakes down, pull ebrake up, release brakes for the dvd to play. And you'll have to do that to get the full setup menu as well.

Or you can do what i did, wire the ebrake wire to one end of the switch, add another wire and ground it for the other end.

After that, hold brake, flip the switch on and off. and Full menus + dvd should play while driving (not saying you should be watching dvd's while driving.)

or you can just wire it to a 12v source

Not sure if that works, i didn't try it with a 12v source, but this deck needs the whole sequence of having the brakes on, ebrake on, then off on the brakes to get the full setup menu + dvd to play. Which is why i just wired the switch, it's simple, works.

Just that every time i start the car, I have to press brake, flip switch.
