This is pretty normal OP. People have been bitching about rates for a long time.

If you have a questionable driving record, are young, or have ANY factor they can use to increase your rate, they will.

Myself, I insure two vehicles, and only pay $1100 a year.

I pay 190/month for 2 cars + my house. I have over 10pts off my licence as well (i lost 8 points in 1/2 an hour on the 401 - fukn ontario)

3300's a year is a lot

24 y/o, been driving since i was 16, 1500/year for 2 cars, one goes on parking insurance during the winter, but i havent had a ticket for 4 years now *knock on wood*, also was on a month's worth license suspension for too many speeding tickets/demerits prior to that,

it's been gradually dropping every year since my last ticket 'probation' period ran out (3 years i think it is?), also dont demerits diminish over time or something about when you hit 23/24/25 ys/o?

edit: also PLPD

What do you drive and have you been insured for 6yrs under your own name? or driving for 6years under someone elses insurance. Either way there's nothing to lose calling around to get other quotes.

$6k is not worth it for any E46 - in three years (likely less), you would've paid more for insurance than the car is worth.

I'm 24 + BMW E46 Cab + tickets and I'm paying around $1600 - $1700 (full coverage). Even then I think I could get a better deal, and I should also be getting a reduced rate when I hit 25 this year.

To OP: Trucks/SUVs are always more expensive than cars. They're accident prone.

Shop around and see what you're paying for - some rates people are paying are :nut: ; I was told yesterday that the insurance cost for somebody with a civic ranged from 1900 to almost 3500/yr, with no accidents/tickets. Tickets/accidents jumped to like 3k to 5k! C-r-a-z-y :nut:

For reference, i'm 26 (10yrs driving for the silly grid system), 0 accidents/tickets, $2M liab, $1000/$1000ded., no glass and my rates last year (more or less, I forget the exact dollar amount)

-65 cobra: $400 (16,000km/yr, no work, shopping)
-02 z06: $800 (16,000km/yr, no work)
-03 g35: $850 (16,000km/yr, work allowed)
-03 viper: $700 (16,000km/yr, no work)

Insured through aviva with house

edit: Don't forget that the type of vehicle (Accident rate, repair costs, etc...) as well as where you live will affect rates (higher crime areas = higher rates)

PLPD doesn't count for these stats

160/month
full coverage (250 deductible/250 collision/2 million liability)
24
3 speeding tickets
150 in a 110
130 in a 110
70 in a 50 (stupid memorial drive:whipped: )
1 other ticket

I'm 22, no tickets/accidents and have an 08.5 mazdaspeed3.

My original insurance company quoted over $3300/year. Called TD and I'm sitting at about $2200 for full coverage.

I called almost every reputable company in the book at TD Moleche Monex had the lowest rate by far.

have any of you guys heard of COSECO Insurance Company?

They have awsome rates, they qouted me roughly $1900/year for a 2008 Lexus IS250awd and ING my current provider qoutes me $6000 for the same level of full coverage. Even for liability on a 2001 Sentra COSECO is almost $400 cheaper then ING.

I will deffintly be changing insurence companys as soon as I figure a few things out.

I wonder how long until I have to change to lovely Albertan insurance... *sigh*

I pay about 70 bucks a month for full insurance on my 200SX. I also have a few tickets.

EDIT: Why full insurance on an old 200SX you say?

Because it's only a savings of $5/month to remove collision.

$186.xx/ month on my 2003 Durango
$124.xx/ month on my 2000 Solara

Through AMA insurance, no tickets, been driving for a few years and I'm 30 in a month. Nothing but props to AMA insurance for handling an insurance claim, one so far from a tire blow out on the highway that led to a damaged rear bumper and fender wall on the Durango, and right before Christmas my wife got rear ended in the Durango and so far they have handled everything for us diligently and very professional, so if you haven't yet, give them a call. Oh, you have to be a member but it's only $80 or so for an annual membership.

Go to RBC and get a quote. I pay 160 a month for full coverage on a 06 Civic, and PLPD on a 95 SHO and a 89 MX6 GT. thank me later. I have a couple tickets and we had a stupid meathead smack the side and the service was good to have it repaired.

I switched with RBC from Allstate for my new vehicle 2009 infiniti, allstate wanted 2000 a year full coverage 500/500 deductible, and TD wanted 2300 500/500. I called RBC and got a rate of 1500 full coverage 2 million liability and 500/500 deductible, they said for next renewal it should go down.
