Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The proposed May 2 fight between Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao and Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton in Las Vegas was called off on Wednesday after the two sides failed to agree on a purse split.

Pacquiao failed to meet a Wednesday deadline imposed by Hatton. Pacquiao reportedly demanded a 60-40 split, while Hatton insisted on 50-50. Several attempts were made on a compromise prior to the deadline.

Recognized as the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world, the 30-year-old Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) holds the WBC lightweight title and was coming off a thorough pounding of "Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya in a fight that was stopped after the eighth round.

Hatton (45-1-0, 32 KOs) was coming off an 11th-round technical knockout of Paulie Malignaggi in November and currently holds the lesser-known IBO light welterweight title.

Pacquiao's right, Hatton lost some shine after that loss to Mayweather, and Pac is blazing right now.

Oh well, I'm sure there's lots of other fights for Hatton with this much potential revenue....

Pacman's side should have just suggested 60-40 for the winner.

...Then again, they probably did. And when somebody refuses a deal like that, you know what they're thinking:)
