How much is insurance typically for a 600cc sport bike? Does it vary from bike to bike like car insurance?

Check out http://www.primmum.com/ kenny.

Insurance on a new 1000cc sport bike with *MY* record is $1400.

It's pretty much based on the type of bike/engine size + the amount of coverage required. Bike accidents are usually fairly cheap and as a result the insurance is cheap.

I just did the quote. New Licence, never insured befor, on the new turbocharged R1, PL/PD, $250 a year.

I added collision and comprehensive, $2000 ded. (was the lowest i could choose) and it was $2140 a year.

I pay $2750/year pl/pd for my car.

As benny mentioned it's when you start adding collision and comprehensive to a bike is when it starts to get expensive.

My $1400 was with collision and limited compreshensive.

I was quoted 1200 for a GSX-R 600 with full coverage (everything was the best you could get....ie 500 deductable and
max coverage)

My rate for my car is 2400 a year.....They say it is so high because it is a sports car...I was like what?? It's a 4 door Saturn! lol

my 600/yr was plpd only, my car premium was at that time 3800/yr for plpd.
