for work, so my id isn't around my neck.

why is the neck id an issue? is it hazardous? if so then your company should supply you with one

cause no one likes it there... and he probably thinks its cooler to have the ID on one of his guns

Its preference guys. less likely to get ripped off from around the neck, or off the coat, and its expensive to replace...

what kind of job do you have where you need an exposed ID all the time.. some kind of security or something?

sounds classified

At my workplace, you can have one you wear on a lanyard or the armband. The lanyard gets in the way, so I have a armband one. It has to be visible at all times because we have access to air-side at the airport. And it's against company policy, canadian border security, FAA not to have our ID's out and visible.

ask your fellow employees where they got theirs.
if no one else has one, maybe suck it up?

I don't have a armband ID holder. But I work at the Airport, and once again, if I don't have my RAIC visible, including the number, I can be fined, escorted from the secure area, and lose my job. So I have it on my lanyard, and I have to make sure it doesn't swing around so that the back is visible (easier said than done). Now the ground guys keep theirs on armbands or in their vests breast pockets, so I guess it's all about where you work?
