Want to buy an external hard drive thats portable. Having trouble deciding on which one to get:

SEAGATE FreeAgent™ Go Portable Hard Drive

no, but unless one has more "features" than the other that you might need/want, I'd get whatever one fits the size you want and has the best warranty. seagate and wd are both very good hd manufacturers.

I got the western digital and it only comes with trial versions of back up software, not sure if that matters but I'd check if the other one comes with full versions.

I have the WD one. I like it- it's small and comes with a nylon case so it's quite mobile. That's what sold it for me.

I've got the WD and, honestly, it's slow as balls. I don't like it, but I have no experience with the Seagate to say it's any better.

I've got the WD My Passport that came with the backup software. I deleted it from the drive as I never used it.

I'm happy with the drive. I mainly use it for backing up my two laptops....so I'm not to concerned about the speed of the transfer as I just copy/paste and leave it while it does the transfer.
