Carfax is only mediocre for US vehicles. PPI always. But for Canadian vehicles, Carproof is amazing. Its much better researched and has more sources of a car's history. PPI should go with Carproof and my Used Car Buying guide. Carproof/Carfax should NOT be used to determine a vehicle's worthiness or as a crutch.

this isn't true necessarily. Carfax is really made for US vehicles only, its weak for Canadian vehicles.

The original post states that Carfax is still only mediocre, even with US vehicles. It didn't say anything about Carfax for Canadian vehicles.

Carfax is only good for documented work and such, what if someone pays cash to have something done, then how do you tell? I went looking for cars for a friend one day and looked over several that had said they were never in accidents, etc. and about 75% of them all had bodywork done at some point.
