Wondering if anyone could recommend a place in Banff to go for dinner on Valentine's Day? I am going to call in the next 2 days and make reservations for a group of 10....mostly couples. Anyone recommend a good place? We are staying at Inns of Banff so anywhere near there would be great but not necessary. Thanks :)
Also...OT but can anyone recommend a day spa in Banff as well?
I am not a skier/snowboarder so I would prefer a facial and massage lol

There are a few spas there that are good. I found the best one that wont cost and arm and a leg is the Red Earth Spa. They also have a hot pool in the spa for after whatever it is that you get done. It's my fav in Banff. The fairmont is bloody expensive and not worth the extra money to go there.

For dinner, if you are open to going to Canmore, I like the Sage Bistro.

Banff, I would second Fuze.

Price range doesn't matter. We are open to anything from a good steak house to a nice bar type restaurant.

there is a fondue restaurant called Grizzly House that might be fun in a large group like this. they have a couple of more private areas in the restaurant that you can reserve - a small private room for 2 that would be romantic on valentines (although i'm sure it's been booked forever) and a couple of larger areas that might accommodate 10 people.

like i said it's a fondue place, but you can also get a hot rock that you can fry on if you're not into the oil. the cheese and chocolate fondues are great though.

the only bad thing about this place is that you come out smelling like a deep fryer. but, being valentines day i doubt your clothes will be staying on long anyhow haahah

oh, and it's walking distance from your hotel

It's also a popular place for swingers to go... just in case your party of 10 get a little adventurous.

funny we heard rumors of that years ago, but I never seen the article until posted.

Could be an interesting evening!

The Italian place called Giorgio's (sp?) on the main street in Banff is fantastic. Very good food, and the dining area is huge. I'm sure they'd take a group of 10.

I would just recommend not going to the Keg, it was the worst meal I've had in a LONG time and I am not at all a picky eater. I quite enjoy the Keg in Calgary, but every single person in our party of 6 was very unhappy with our meals there.

As for the Grizzly house being a swingers place, I don't really think it is anymore (I have lots of friends who live in Banff, that is what they tell me).

:werd: Friend's family owns it, I even worked there haha. Great Greek food, atmosphere and it was JUST remodeled.

Giorgios is awesome too, and a bit more expensive. Italian restaurant, and there is/was a private room upstairs that you can book.

i would also recommend this place. my wife and i went there last year for dinner and we were very impressed with everything. it has a dark, intimitate atmosphere that would be perfect for valentine's dinner. it's not that expensive for what you get, too!

It looks like they have a great Valentines day menu this year. $60 a plate too!
