Contemporary Coachworks is one of the most expensive shops in Calgary, go in and see what they work on. They do brand new cars off the truck when being driven here before they hit the dealership, the work there is immaculate.

Not that i'm saying Screamin' Paintworks isn't. I'm just letting you know.

You will be happy with screamin. Thats my favorite body shop.

Shop that don't need work will quote high and rather deal with insurance.

Shop that do need work will quote low to get your business.

Simple as that.

What that pic doesn't show is any damage to the bumper and the parts underneath it.
I'd assume the back of the bumper there bent inwards during the incident, and you have many plactic clips that shattered in the wheel well / bumper area.

I could believe two grand.

Silver is one of the hardest colours to paint match.

My car was fixed by Distinctive, the authorized Merc body shop. Still the silver came out off compare to original factory.

i know someone that got their car fixed at distinctive and the paint had so much orange peel. they also forgot to put the clips on for the bumper so it wasn't lining up right. i had really awesome experences with both screamin and contemporary.

MyCivic was backed into and I need a new mirror and a dent removed. I went to Crowfoot Honda and they gave me an estimate for $1250, and Contemporary Coachworks gave me an estimate for $2400...

I am sure their work is immaculate, but I don't know about charging twice as much as a dealership....

like i have said before, contemporary coach will anally fuck you until you bleed money. I had a quote for 3000 from a body shop and over 6000 from contemporary. If your doing it on your own i would go screamin' but if its insurance either will do a great job except contemporary will clean you out while they do it.

Also.. WTF 25/quote.. i had many done there at no charge... :banghead: :banghead:

it will look like crap if they do that

thats why you see cars that have panels that look like they are different shades/colors

to properly repair that, the hood, drivers door and possibly a-pillar need to be painted/blended. thats where the $2000 bucks (a bit high imo) comes in

thats exactly what i am saying above.

if they had done a proper blending job your eyes would not be able to tell, even though the colors would be slightly different

Bumper bent inwards? its likely polyeurathane (sp?)

Plastic clips don't help justify a $1200 increase

Most shops will do things different depending on if you are paying or insurance is paying. If you told contemporary you are going thru insurance, then they are going to bend the insurance company over backwards and give you the highest quote they can get by doing everything that MIGHT need to be done irregardless if it needs to be repaired or not.

If it's just the fender, ~800 seems right, and to do the bumper, fender and door, ~2000 is right as well (actually i think closer to 2100-2200).

^and honestly who cares if your not at fault and going through insurance... I don't care if the quote is $1500 or $4500 I would go to which ever business would return my vehicle to the best condition (which coincidentally is normally the higher). I don't want a shop that reuses cheap clips to reattach my moldings, I would rather they spend the 2.50/clip and get them from the dealership. I would also refuse my car going to a shop that things that body filler is an appropriate fix for any dents larger than a stone chip.

800 seems decent. It's on the low side but it might still be a good job. They definitely aren't gouging you but if the repair isn't up to your standards NEVER sign off on it, don't even take it off the lot. They will be forced to repaint it if they wish to claim payment.
