I have an Acer laptop that is having problems connecting to my home wireless network.

I am using Shaw with a motorola modem plugged into a Dlink DIR-625 wireless router.

The laptop uses a broadcom wireless G card.

The problem is the laptop shows a connection to the network and there are packets sent and received however when I open a browser, I am unable to open any sites. I am also unable to connect to MSN or use my outlook on that laptop.

When I open the address to my router, it shows my other laptop, the PS3 and our two blackberries connected at any given time, however it will never show the particular laptop in question.

I tried reparing the connection to no avail and with a quick google search, tried using ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew however it says those commands cannot be completed when media is disconnected. Whatever that means.

Any suggestions???

any settings on your router?

try to enable mac filtering and make sure to include your laptops MAC.

reboots usually fix this issue for me.

try rebooting your router.

You could also go into network and sharing centre > manage wireless networks > and delete the network that you have an issue with and connecting with it again to see if that works.
