1 who is in need of cash and does not think, or 1 who is a little less fortunate and really wants to enjoy the finer things in life and get blind sided IMO.

I don't get why he didn't figure out it was a scam before he even got to London

There comes a point where you've already lost so much money, time, friends and probably your job that you know it's a scam, and you have nothing else to lose but a bit more money, so maybe, just maybe something will turn out right and it could be this next step, which these scammers will keep you thinking is the last step to your fortune. Same thing happend to the woman who lost $400K, she even admitted that after a point she knew it was a scam, but kept on doing it.

This guys friends don't want to talk to him probably because he tried to borrow money from them and they told him it's a scam, but he didn't listen. I have no sympathy for him. Hard lesson learned, and this can't be said enough times, but if it's too good to be true, it's most likely not.

Do we still have to feel sorry for these people? I mean, not only would you have to be very, very stupid to fall for this, you'd have to be a stubborn ignorant douchebag as well, because I guarantee you that everyone he mentioned this to told him it was a scam.
It's like me walking up to everyone I see telling them that if they give me $250,000, I'll transform them into a superman. If someone hands over the money, am I really the only one to blame here?

But, people will do crazy shit when they live in a town that reeks of tomato soup for 4 months a year.

wow, that is sad. Such a hick town, full of backwards people.

My favourite part of the story was "Leamington Police" wow, they are finally off doing important work, rather than policing the ketchup recipe from the Heinz plant.

What's the money cleansing he was talking about?

“I was told once that they send out 30,000 e-mails a day, around the world, and they hope for just one or two responses."

1 in 30,000 that you can get $150,000?!? fuck lotto 6/49

It was getting to the point where I was wondering if anyone still falls for this crap. With every moron that falls prey to this, it probably encourages hundreds of mroe scammers to start up or stick with it.

Yeah I'm curious about that too. Maybe it was a stamp stating "Property of XXX"? But then that will be defacing legal tender so that should have set off a flag...

But you gotta give props to the scammers. Shrink-wrapping the alleged cash would have prevented people from fanning the stacks to check for fillers. That's sounds very Hollywood, pretty impressive!

Is this "formula" thing a usual part of these scams, or did this guy just so stupidly believe everything that they kept going "ok, what else can we tell him so we can get more out of him.....I got it, $100,000 'cleansing' formula' "

GQBalla
01-28-2009, 04:16 PM
i also wonder this cleansing formula.

lol so did he have a suit case filled with blank bills that if you poured onto each blank bill the normal bill appears?

fuck his stupid

Finally, Rempel had enough. “I said, ‘no way I’m cleaned out.’” Rempel, his parents and 10-year-old brother Ike drove to New York. They spent a day searching the airport for the men, with no luck. They returned home and called police. “I really thought in my heart this was true,” said Rempel.

Seriously, Finally? What a dumb ass! Where is Lemington anyways?

His new friends pulled out one bill and “cleansed” it with a liquid “formula,” which washed off some kind of stamp.

this is the "cleansing" and "formula" that they're referring to:

Thanks for posting the link about washing the money.... I had no idea what they were talking about - it seemed ridiculous!

(And still does, but at least it makes more sense)

Wow... how sad. Not that he got scammed - but that he's just so freakin stupid.

Yeah, that was pretty lame. You'd almost think I was from America or something.

Way to go. Keep up the original and intriguing commentary. I can't wait to read more clever "only in America" comments. I'm anxiously awaiting your next riveting dissertation.
