what was happening on crowchild north bound?

30 minutes ago i was going south on crowchild, cops had the intersections at mcmahon and a few other streets blocked off for a looooong ways it looked like. Saw to cop cars just gunning it on crowchild.
I turned off crowchild to 16th and looking down from the bridge there was absolutely no traffic for quite a distance.

just curious to know what was happening.

They were running Seat belt checks down here in Lethbridge today. Could be a provincial seat belt check day?

They typically won't close major routes in major cities to do seat belt checks. Probably won't give out many tickets if there's no cars..

My guess is shoot-em-up number 10000000 this year, or fatal crash.

but they came off 17th and went northbound until they turned right at 24th street
