I had a friend who worked with Apache and he loved it there and got rehired once he finished the internship. I also know Apache is one of the higher paying companies for internship as well.

Apache is good, you'll enjoy. Pay is prime as well.

Which one if you don't mind my asking? Feel free to PM me, I'm on internship with a smaller engineering consulting firm right now, and I've got some buddies on the other side @ Suncor and Petro-Canada too. It seems like I'm more involved then they are, and I'm learning more than they are too.

The nice thing about consulting is you have the chance to work on various projects too, so you see what suits you.

The only engineer I know at Apache absoloutley loves it.

Also, during uncertain economic times, your job is a little more secure at a producing company rather than a consulting firm.

However, skilled and hardworking engineers are the last to be laid off.

Not to hijack the thread, but anyone know how many spots are open for interns at Apache? There are about 16 interviews...and I keep hearing from people there is only one spot?

I was a summer student for Apache, really great company to work for. One thing that stands out about Apache is that they offer the interns 8 months of reservoir and production...something the other companies dont offer (its usually one or the other). So Apache is probably my #1 choice right now. Next to Nexen, I am pretty impressed with Apache so far.

^ oh ok, I thought all the interviews have to end before any offers can be given, now I see. So the bulk of the interviews end by next week?

^It seems like there are many positions within the Civil engineering field though. I believe there are about 40 job postings and some job postings involve hiring for many positions.

So I would say that 70% could be placed this year in the civil department.

I also have my last one on monday with Sintra Engineering, this position seems interesting because its a forensic type of job. Inspecting building failure by fire or design flaw/installation flaw. Should be interesting.

good luck on monday.
