Car Painting Questions

Hey guys looking for a little info on what it cost to get a decent paint job in Calgary...Not show car quality, but not a $200 spray job either. (I know the amount of prep/body work required will/could change this number drastically, lets assume minimal work would be required)

I have always owned new cars and have never needed a full paint job, but I am tossing around a couple ideas right now and trying to figure out what a paint job would cost as it might sway my decision in which way to go.

Not really a maximum, but lower the better I guess, like I said not looking for a show car finish, just decent paint that will last a few years... more than likely I would want flat black/graphite if that makes any difference.

Just something I am tossing around, I dont even have a solid choice in car right now. Just thinking about buying something used to play with.

If 2-5k can get me a decent paint job then great, but if I am looking at 5+k then I am not so keen on the idea and I will just lease new again.

Honestly man - if you're going to pay 2-5k for a new paint job, I can't imagine painting it flag black would be a good idea. You might think it looks dope, and in a way it does to some, but it will look very dated very soon and even now will make most cars look more ricer than anything.

The only GOOD looking car I've seen in flat black so far was a Lambo. But then, it would look good in ANY paint.

You can get a decent one for a 1k by those private guys who work in their garage.

And flat black is a dope choice depending on the car.

complete paint job as in, door jams, under hood, inside trunk?

Thats exactly what I was thinking! Last paint job I had done cost me about $2500 at a small shop...I think thats about average. The shops gone though :cry:

Flat black is sorta easy, but to make it nice and last more than a couple years it's still a base clear paint job. It just has a dull clear coat on it, otherwise the paint will delaminate under the uv of the sun. It needs the uv protection that clear coats offer to be durable.
