Well seeing how I'm called such an EVO fanboy I decided to do the right thing and actually get a 2008 Phantom Black EVO MR. Pics aren't the greatest but I'm pretty happy with the car and can't wait for the spring (no winter tires yet).

I actually really like them....walked by the Mitsu dealer in Van and decided to check it out.....not at all boy-ricer like the STi's are....much more aggressive looking.

Big congrats on the new car!

It's parked right now right?

Great time to get the suspension + spacers sorted.

Are those RC's? I have them too. Apparently some of the lightest 18" BBS.

Thanks guys! The color is a metallic black that actually can look charcoal depending on the angle and light. I wanted white but had to choose a car off the lot to get dealer invoice pricing which is the only way I would buy one of these cars as MSRP is too much money IMO for these cars. All MR's have the TC-SST which is similar to the VW/Audi DSG but better (I have driven my brother's DSG equipped A3 Quattro enough to compare) because of the super sport mode which is crazy how quick it downshifts. The heated Recaro seats are awesome and fit me perfectly and the only complaint is the entry level Lancer stereo wich is a complete disgrace in a vehicle at this price as well as the mitsubishi parts bin HVAC controls and dash layout.

They are not RC's...look to be an Evo specific wheel as I can't think of their model name.

Love the color, reminds me of the metallic black found on GLI's and 20th Anniversary GTI's....looks wicked in direct sunlight.

Nice purchase.

Congrats! I have read that the TC-SST is better than DSG. I should go and test drive one to compare. Are the 09s arriving now, is that why they are selling the 08s at invoice? That seems like a sweet deal.

Super Sport mode is too crazy for the street though as it doesn't upshift until redline and just tapping the brakes or slowing down ever slightly causes two gear downshifts. It would be sweet in a tight track though.

09's aren't arriving for a while as I saw the list of incoming cars and only thing of note I saw is that the Sportback will be available in March first in GTS trim then Ralliart trim in April no 09 EVO's were on the list. There are rumors in the US that Mitsubishi may not bring over the 09's (09's are out in other parts of the world) and just sell off their remaining 08's and bring the 2010 model over in the fall because performance cars like the EVO and STI haven't been selling well in the US because of the poor economy.

It was a one week thing at the end of the month as I had my choice of any car on the lot for dealer invoice +$500 which was cancelled out by the $500 loyalty rebate I got from my wife's Outlander so essentially dealer invoice which is $4411 below MSRP on my car. They had no GSR's in stock but I probably would have got one instead as it could have been had OTD in the high 30's.

It's good. Handles awesome and goes like stink I just don't have room in my life right now (kids) for a 2-seater. Probably be looking to sell in the spring as the EVO is at my dad's right now as I have no room for three vehicles.

just wonder why they put some clip type weight on the wheel as they could damage the wheel. are they suppose to use sticky type of weight on the wheel if it's alloy?
correct me if i'm wrong.

i might take your advice and sell my sti and buy an evo 9. dont really like the styling of the new ones. ive yet to drive an evo9 but as soon as i drive one im pretty sure i`ll make my decision. drove the new sti though, i wasnt very impressed :thumbsdow
seems like the evo might be a better choice than the sti doesnt matter if its the new style or old style

If you go with the premium package you're around $54000 so yah it starts to get pricey. Still an awesome car for the money when you compare it to other cars in that price.

Yes it's expensive but aluminum suspension, hood, roof, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, 3 lsd's with all the electronic wizardry controlling them isn't cheap.

I was close to purchasing an STI instead because you can get into them cheaper. It also has a quieter interior, smoother ride, more rear space, and honestly I don't mind the hatchback styling with the flared fenders. I could see why some would prefer the STI for sure because it's more forgiving and I'm getting up there in age so ideally it should have been better for me.

The EVO is actually a larger car but to me it feels smaller and handles tighter a point and shoot way. Everyone has a different opinion but to me the EVO felt more exciting to drive. Really there aren't many cars in the world period that handle as well and since all performance cars now are pretty quick that's what differentiates it from the rest.

Nice car!

I wanted to buy one few months ago as a new track toy but the dealership treated me like shit, wouldn't let me test drive one even though there was one sitting on the lot that the manager was driving. Basically played the no deposit, no test drive.

One thing I noticed is how quiet and unturbo like it feels. Maybe I've been driving old ass loud turbo cars for too long but the EVO X just feels soo smooth and the power comes on so nicely. I think you need a few mods to make it feel like a turbo car haha.

You're just used to the mechanical whoosh noises in your MR2 where the turbocharger is behind your head.:D

I agree that the boost comes on early and the engine pulls pretty progressively to redline. It's definately not peaky like 4G63 and other 90's turbo engines. Apparently aftermarket intakes and intercooler pipes up the noice considerably.

Haven't driven it enough to know. I don't even know 100% if it has the latest dealer flash which supposedly reduces the rich top end tune from early EVO X's. Not too woried about it anyway because I was thinking about sending my ECU to Vishnu or AMS for a flash.

Interesting! Are they available for test drives?

I read one of your posts and you wrote how the STi is more forgiving so I just presumed the Evo would be a rougher car to live with.

I'm getting sick of the shifting and how loud my WRX is.

Platinum Mitsubishi has a demo MR. They let me drive it with no questions asked. The MR gets Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks so it rides smoother than the GSR but it's still a bit rougher than the STI. The EVO feels much more nimble and has super tight steering feel which to me is more important.

I'm getting tired of shifting manuals in city traffic as well which is why the TC-SST appeals to me. The lighting fast shifts are an added bonus. :D

Is it a GSR or MR? AMS claims a 40 whp increase to unmodded X's with their mail-in tunes so I figured that they would be a good place to start while I'm breaking the car in.

Speedtech's (actually Will's) is a MR in white

There's a set of gold Advan RS in EVO X fitment in the show room. I think they're willing to sell them if there's a buyer, if not, I heard it's going on the EVO when it gets warm,
