Any suggestions? I think there's a Chianti's across from the Foothills Hospital... any other suggestions?

sandro's on 40th ave and edmonton trail NW
borderline NW, but one of the best you'll find in the city, and BY FAR the best in that area
EDIT: but be sure to make reservations, even during weeknights.

Only Chianti's in NW is in Crowfoot, you must be thinking of something else by the hospital

Thanks for the suggestion guys... are these Italian places "generic" or "speciality" like: Northern Italian cuisine vs. Southern Italian vs. Sicilian?

La Viena on Kensington Road between Crowchild and 14th Street.
Great value for money.
Its next to a little convenince store.
Tough to spot but great little neighborhood restaurant.
Can get busy so go early or make a reservation.

how can you even call chiantis italian?
thats like saying east side marios is italian.
If you search you will find TONS of info as every couple weeks a new "good italian food" thread is created.
Best of luck....
PS: can i guide you towards a friends family's resturaunt?
La Luna Rosa just off 14st
Anyways, search and you will find lots

The restaurant across from the foothill hospital is Red Water Grille, I think it used to be Lucianio's(sp?) before.

La Dolce Vita
916 - 1 Ave NE (Not the NW as you requested but WELL worth the drive.......let Franco decide on your meal, don't even bother looking at a menu!)

Da Guido
It's on the west side of center street so it TECHNICALLY is NW :P
I forget the exact address, but it's on the west side of Center, just south of 20th avenue. Small little place that it helps to make a reservation at. Awesome food and service, and great ambience (feels like a small italian townhouse inside).

+1 for Amici's. I know the owners there... Eat there all the time! Two for one pizzas on Tuesday's too (I think Tuesday)
+1 for Sandro's as well. Never had a bad meal.
Also not really NW but downtown. Il Gallo Nero on 17th ave right beside the Casino. I know the owners too but I would honestly say one of the best if not THE best Italian restaurant in Calgary. It's not expensive, but it isn't cheap, but you pay for an awesome meal. I used to work there and we would get flames players in there all the time.

I'm not too keen on Amici's...food portions are small and food overall is overrated.
Green olive (near T Pot or TnT) is definitely a steal for the price and honestly I think they are better than Amici's .. :goflames:
