Dear god....he could have kept it a bit more sleeper(ish)

the sad thing is, he could have made more power out of a h22a on boost or something instead of a shitty v8, for the money he prolly spent doing that conversion.

funny shit

Im extremely curious as to how that muffler holds up, considering he claims that it is a daily driver.

True about the H22, but then it becomes just an other H22 Honda swap that'll get overlooked at shows and meets. Just imagine all the "Holy shit!"s this will get.

Pretty sweet. H22 is way too common, but a Chevy powered RWD civic is awesome. I'm betting the guy didn't spend too much on this and frankenstiened together what he had available.

I wonder if he finished it off, this thread is originally from 07

EDIT

I wanted an XB before, but the fact that it had the Echo engine in it was a huge turn off.

After seeing this

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/25/friday-fun-rwd-scion-xb-with-chevy-v8-power/

It makes me want to get one again :D

the power weight ratio is 450hp to 2500lbs. That might even top GT-R's ration, which would be an incredible accomplishment.

Bet that thing couldn't even drive straight lol

Props to that guy. Pretty original if you ask me. I probably would have kept the body as stock as possible though, just to scare the pants off of a Mustang GT or two.

Most RWD Honda's I've seen have looked pretty obvious with the SRA underneath the body, but honestly, other than the fat tires on the back you can barely tell.

I'm willing to bet that based on the specs

The weight of the car (or lack there of)

IF the 283 is a properly balanced engine, you'll consistently blow away a H22 swap pretty easily

I love it when people stuff V8's into little 4 bangers. There's quite a few guys with Ford Focus now rolling around with V8's in them.

Here's a Ford Focus w/ 351

Jump in at 1:15 in the vid to see it unleashed lol.

:werd: :werd: he prolly had this laying around and spent under 1k tops on this build. The H22a + turbo would DEFF be alot more than what he spent here

that engine was prolly 2k alone, but it was realistically, if you count time is money, around 5k. Its an awesome car, theres no doubt, i didnt mean to tear it down or anything, that gets an "oh god damn" from me for sure. And yah, i guess it does stand out in a crowd. Props for sure. I myself am dying to swap an sr20det into an rx7, fd, or fc, i dont care. That would be fun, and give me something interesting to try my fabrication skills on.

the engine was most likely just laying around just by the looks of it or he got it dirrrrt cheap. And as the the time part its just likely his hobby, not something that he really intended to flip . Or else im sure he would have made it alil nicer:rofl:

edelbrock performer intake,
edelbrock carb,
comp cam 480" lift,
double roller timing chain,
custom headers,
3" exhaust with thrush muffler,
3" be cool radiator,
14" fan,

new water pump,
new alternator,

aluminum fuel cell,
jegs electric water pump,
1/2" aluminum fuel line with pushlock hoses,
jegs race fuel filter,

look up all those parts and tell me its not worth 2000$

Its cool, esp for the price, but honestly, that thing looks like the biggest basket case i've possibly ever seen. the workmanship is poor at best, and it needs ALOT of work to finish it.

I've always been a fan of the v8 swapped cars and have wanted to do one myself but the amount of work involved is incredible and to do it to something like NHRA standards or even Motor Vehicle Standards is insane and costly. I crunched some numbers once and it came out around the $20,000 mark and i'm sure it would be more after adding up all the little penny pinching shit that you'd come across along the way

yes for sure, but less realistic as far as retaining the car's origional weight distribution. The sr20 weighs pretty much the same as the 13b-rew, and is close to the same dimensions, so naturally it would work better. 2jz is a disgusting engine, no doubt, but i would rather have it in a car that it didnt effect the general feel of the car. Having lots of power is fun and all, but straight lines arent everything.

There is a whole website/forum for LS powered RX7 cars.
Many look like a stock installation. Also the LS is aluminum so is about the same weight as the rotary. Only problem is those old RX7 don't come cheap.

That's something I've never gotten. With all the FD Rx7's in this city with blown rotaries, you'd think shells wouldn't be that expensive. Even with a blown motor, I've seen them go for $7k.

LS7 + FD Rx7 = :nut: :burnout: :barf:
