ok, so i'm trying to hook up my tv and computer. i went and bought a dvi male to vga female adaptor. i hooked that into the dvi port in my tv, and tried to hook up my monitor cord to it.

now i've tried restarting everything numerous times, and it still won't work. any suggestions?

i'm using an emachines pos tower in case that helps, and a 32 in prima hdtv.

thanks in advance!!!

Dumb question, but did you change your display settings so it outputs to your tv and not a monitor?

I'd try to google the answer (i.e. "how to hook up your TV to your computer") depending on your (windows?) operating system there seems to be some walkthroughs with pictures and/or video.. 'a lot easier to follow than just straight text or our replies here :)

... Should be easy to figure out regardless of your technical level. If not, come back with questions..

good luck!.

it's quite easy actually
there's nothing hard about it, did you change your TV input to be an AUX or VGA setting instead of a normal channel

Doesnt your computer have a DVI output on the video card as well as vga? If not, you may want to use a better video card that does output DVI.

no my computer is a piece of crap. the guy at computer trends said that i could hook it up and get a crappy analog signal onto the tv. but i've tried messing with the settings and i can't get anything to display on the tv.....

You dont want that crappy analog signal, trust me. What kind of pc is it, i may have a video card around i can sell you for cheap. AGP, PCIE?

Gotta take cover off. Prolly onboard so you need to disable it and then instAll new card

the dvi port on ur tv is only designed to accept a dvi-d signal, not dvi-i or dvi-a, meaning u'll need to get a video card that has dvi-i outputs....that or use a different input on ur tv (do you have a vga input?)

what he said

although if your able to plug in the dvi to vga adapter into your TV, then that input MAY be able to handle analogue signal, otherwise the adapter wouldn't plug in (there would not be a place for 4 analogue pins on your tv
