If you arent getting the Type S you are wasting your time.

Buy a civic instead

dunno why everyone is so negative about a non type s?
sure when they were brand new they were expensive, but now they`re pretty cheap and they're decent cars. takes regular gas. also maybe the op doesnt drive manual? and likes the style of the rsx?

to the op: buy a premium model instead of the base. u get leather heated seats, abs sun roof and alloy wheels.

Nice little cars with Civic underpinnings and a bit of an edge... solid choice

Just please don't think it's a sports car and try to race me please... seems to be a common theme with RSX drivers.

hahahah. i know how to drive manual, but i m not the only one driving it. and yes i like the style of the car. thats why i kinda want one.

so the base has cloth seat?
cuz i saw one at edmonton
that has cloth seat, and the dealer told me it is premium and asking for $19000. 39000Km.

not sure is thats worth it or not.

no spolier too.

The rsx has my engine :dunno:

It's decent and if it's just your daily driver you should have more than enough power to get up hills and out of sticky situations.

correct me if im wrong, but if you have an ep3 than a base model rsx does not have the same engine as your car. but the type-s models do

PM me, I have a friend selling his white type S. It is a 6 speed, with about 70,000 kms. I believe he is somewhere in the mid 19's for price.

The car is SUPER clean ALL the time. No accidents.

fixed :D

OP, i've never owned one but i've driven more than enough of them, from all my time working at acura they had the least amount of problems/recalls for the 2000 and up models, also some of the last Acuras that are made in Japan regarding the recent lineup.

Good enough for overtaking etc if you really need to but as said above, dont take it personally, it may look like a sports car but definitely not one lol

The auto with 'sport shift' was meh, you definitely felt like you're missing out on some oomph compared to a 5spd.

about the seats, the 2005 base cloth seats were pretty damn nice for cloth, held you way better than leathers ever would, but would you sacrifice it for heated seats?

the k20a3 iirc is in both of those, 155 hp

the k20a2 and k20z1, 220 and 200 hp were in rsxs and csx type s's

dont quote me on that tho

ill get the type s when i m the only one thats gonna be driving the car.

right now. it has to be automatic or no talk. cuz the other people thats driving dunno how to do manual.

do you guys think it is worth getting the it, or should i just grab a civic for a lower price.

and how much price difference do the base and premium usually differ?

i would just get a newer, 4 door civic as it sounds like alot of people will be using the car. having a 4 door would just be better suited to the general needs of the people who will be driving it.

You can get a base RSX automatic in the $10-$15k range.

There are too many variables to give a set price point.

K20a2 02-04 RSX-S 200 HP
K20Z1 05-06 RSX-S 210 HP
K20z1 06+ Si 197 SAE HP
K20a3 02-04 Civic Si and RSX 160 HP
K20a3 05-06 155 SAE HP

Now that this is out of the way
:poosie:

It's a decent car but the dash rattles quite a bit in them. With that said I like the interior and exterior styling, they have proven very reliable.

The 05-06 model had a bit of a face lift and looks a bit nicer. It has the same engine making the same HP amount but because of SAE regulations the number Honda quotes is lower at 155hp.

yeah +1, you wouldnt believe what the dealership fix is for that, i think it was even suggested in the trouble shooting manual on online maintenance manual (forgot what it was)

also the front strut squeak, also the fix for that was hilarious, but hey it worked

Otherwise, buy the civic as mentioned.

The RSX has a nice interior and its comfortable all around, the handling is great and the style of the car is sweet. The car is not quick compared to most cars out there now but its fun to cruise around in , or you can mod it like me.

As for the base RSX, I think it's a great car, but a bit pricey for what you get. For much, much less you could find a civic, have the same features as the base RSX, and about 30 hp less. It's not a sports car, but neither is an a3 powered RSX.

And Honda auto's aren't exactly known for their reliability. Maybe it's just the D series (civic) motors though, not sure.

it sounds like you'll be hauling people or the other drivers will be hauling people. I would say get a brand new 4 door civic :P

But stick with the premium if you're going to get an automatic RSX.

I like them, The automatic has the nice tip-tronic tranny.. Not the fastest thing ever but definetly a nice car, Inlovewitrsx has a few mods on his and the car looks and performs great.

speaking of seats, i absolutely cannot drive the rsx for long cause the leather seats are so fucking hard and uncomfortable. between the 2 door civic and rsx-premium, the rsx is definitely a better car IMO. per-2006 gen civics are the worst civics ever made.

iv had both premium and type s last year...and personally if you got the extra cash and like to gun it once in a while go with the Type s .. i liked the premium because of the gas milage and lower end torque plus only using regular gas.. i had both Modded to the max .. i personally liked my Premium for its reliablity too much shit went bad on my type s or couldv been my luck ..

i used to own a 2003 rsx type-s and drove it for over 5 yrs before selling her to my friend's younger sister. i sold it for a very low price of 15gs because i had 2 accidents with my rsx. here are my thoughts:

PROS:

- extremely reliable
- attractive styling
- nice interior
- good handling
- sufficient power (type-s only)
- the engine (type-s only)
- smooth tranny (2nd gear kinda iffy on the type-s but oh well)
- decent fuel economy
- back seats, though small, is bearable for long drivers
- huge cargo space in rear
- large aftermarket support
- overall fun car to drive

CONS:

- you'll get fags wanting to race you all the time
- you may get the urge to race people but you'll probably lose, lol
- premium gas (type-s only)
- stock sound system kinda weak

overall, i loved my rsx! i sometimes wish i never sold it (especially now with the whole economy...fudge...). if you're not really into spirited driving, i would recommend the premium rsx over the base (as mentioned, the premium has the sunroof and the leather seats). but if you like to enjoy your drive, definitely get the type-s!

here's a pic of mine before i let her go

I just bought an old 02 RSX premium with pretty low kms (84K) but manual. I paid $10500 and thought it was a pretty good deal. I looked at a couple and the beige cloth interior and dash look pretty bad IMO. I like the black and the leather. I think premium also has the sunroof and heated seats/mirrors which I use very often.

Its a pretty basic car and I like the small size and large trunk/hatch area. Sometimes I wish I had a 4door but generally I want to discourage the thought of having to drive a lot of people around.

I wouldn't mind an auto since I'm stuck in traffic most of the time when I'm on the road.

hahaha sometimes dealerships are just as bad or even worse since they now how to dress the car up for the most curb appeal.

just do your research, and if you find one you like, send it to a mechanic to look at. private is cheaper, plus you save on tax.

buying from a dealership definitely does not make it safer, lol. how many threads have we had about various dealerships lying or whatnot?

just do a carfax on it and send it to a mechanic that you trust.

Used lot or private, all used cars should get an inspection from a completely different mechanic IMO. Generally I find private sales cheaper and less hassle. (provided the seller isn't scum)

Again, I have a friend selling his 2005 RSX-S. 70,000 kms and is SUPER clean. No accidents. $19,900. He is open to offers, but don't waste his time with low balling. This is a very clean car with 2 sets of wheels and tires for winter and summer.
The car is white and has a little lip spoiler rather than the common shopping cart style. Tinted windows as well.

He's moving to Australia monday. Make an offer. Again, don't waste his time by low balling.

PM me if you are interested.

ths rsx has rebuilt title. whats the definition of "rebuilt"

he told me the car was crashed before, say the fender and front bumper is replaced. so i thought ok minor body damage.

i thought rebuilt means, like the whole car is liek wreck and totaled to get the rebuilt status.

fender stuff shouldnt put the car to that title right?

now his wants 13000 for it

InLoveWitRSX
02-18-2009, 01:33 PM
I think what your thinking of, like the whole car being wrecked is a "salvage title", rebuilt is just repairing... but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

gen2teggy
02-18-2009, 01:37 PM
when its a salvage title, the damage cost more then the car so it becomes a "salvage title" (not roadworthy)

then someone took the salvage car and repaired it...thus titled
"rebuilt status" resale value should go down...i think...

What title does your car get if you just get into a fender bender then you get your bumper fixed? rebuilt?
