I JUST got a Kicker 12" Solobaric S12L5 subs today, and i'm planning on connecting that to this Phoenix Gold Octane 8.0:4 amp for now.

it's 125x4 watts.. but i'm going to bridge 2 of them at 400 watts to power the subs, and use the other 2 channels to power front speakers.

I'm going to get a single mono amp to power the sub later one.. but for now... will this setup be ok? some people say no since it will ruin my front speakers... some people say no cuz it's not enough power for the subs..

i just wanna know if this is going to cause any problems running it in this configuration for about a month or 2.

I don't know a whole lot about car audio... but from what I've heard it's not a good idea at all to run mid's and sub's off of the same amp.

Do u have capability of running lpf for the subs and hpf for the mids????

cause without lpf on subs, they will die on u quickly
lpf on speakers will just have base, and u will prolly blow them.

Yes you dont know much about car audio, and there are tons of amps out there that are perfectly capable of powering an entire system.

Do you have aftermarket fronts? Will they be able to handle 125 watts to each of them?

Most decent aftermarkets will handle 125 pretty good.

And you can easily power your system off that amp. You can get one amp and power your entire 4 speaker and 1 sub setup if you wanted. It's really your choice. You should be okay though.

What ohm resistance are you running with your sub and with your amp? Is your sub a DVC or single? Just some questions you may want to think about....

The amp will run everything perfectly. Just use the HP crossover for your front speakers and the LP crossover for the subs and everything will sound great.

600 watts is the max REC RMS for that sub so 400W is plenty of power.
