Drove the car for a bit...Then winter came and I got something a little more suited for the snow. Last winter I mostly worked on the body..sanded it all down and primerd it.

looking good J
- are you still running the turbo i tapped for you?
Crazy if its still working lol. What color is she going?

SR240SX
02-10-2009, 12:06 PM
Thanks man, No I baught a new Turbo. Very similar...Just a little bigger and has a polished compressor housing, Should look good. That old turbo did last me all summer though haha.

I'm probably painting it black...but I'm still stuck on white or blue too..So we'll see.

cant really make it out but waht are the rear tire sizes?

great build

SR240SX
02-12-2009, 01:43 PM
Last year I ran a 245/40r18 on the rear, This year I will be running a 225/40r18.

SR240SX
02-20-2009, 06:22 PM
Shit..Got a little problem...

I bolted up the new turbo to my mani today, Went to bolt it onto the car and I cant get the intake onto the compressor side:thumbsdow

The CAS is right in the way, If I manage to get a coupler on the compressor side, It just hits the CAS.

would a 45 degree coupler work? Its pretty damn tight...I dunno what else I can use...

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/killaclan/turb006-3.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/killaclan/turb005-3.jpg

R154
02-20-2009, 06:25 PM
You could try sectioning a 90 degree coupler, so you can get it to radius really sharply onwards and toward that gay fuse box.

Are you running a cold air or a ram?

SR240SX

But then it would have to stick out pretty far off the compressor, Also the coupler would hit the CAS. I guess it's a RAM intake? Look at the above engine bay pic...

R154
02-20-2009, 06:36 PM
Yeah that is cold air. If you still have that metal radius I assume you are still running a maf  so you need that sensor.

Anyways as long as you still have that pipe, dent it to clear the cas. Either that or you get a silicone coupler and do as I said and section a 90 degree elbo so that you cut it down purely to the radius you need so that it clears it.

SR240SX
02-20-2009, 07:11 PM
Thing is for some reason this turbo sits like forward more...

When I get a coupler onto the turbo, Its so creased from hitting the CAS that I cant get the intake on it, So denting the intake wouldnt work.

Isnt 90 degress a little to much of a bend? I thought a 45 would do it, But those couplers start at like 60 bucks, a 3" one wont be cheap and I cant return it after it's out of the package.

R154
02-20-2009, 07:15 PM
section = cut. Go to princess auto and pick up some 12$ ones.

I told you to get a 90 degree elbow because they have a much tighter radius then a 45, so the chance of you being able to cut a section tight enough to clear the CAS is much higher, then with a 45 degree elbow.

Second, why is your turbo sitting so far forward? didnt you know the turbo would be longer and thusly sit closer to the front of the engine?

Third, if you bolted it straight to the manifold, and realised that it was going to hit, why didnt you mod/remake your manifold?

Forcefed
02-20-2009, 07:18 PM
Well, another thing I have seen is guys will use a mesh, or something similar to keep small rocks and stuff out of the turbo...Just an idea...I mean not alot you can do with that small of a working space

R154
02-20-2009, 07:31 PM
He cant do that. He is running a MAF. he needs air to pass over the sensor.

SR240SX
02-20-2009, 07:35 PM
Yea gotta run the MAF.

Anyways I figured it out haha, Played around with it a bit longer and switched a couple couplers around, Now it fits...But the intake does hit the CAS...Should I be worried about that? I Doubt it....
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/killaclan/005.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/killaclan/006.jpg

Now I just need to figure a way to rig up to hot pipe to the compressor...

R154
02-20-2009, 07:48 PM
Well any contact is not good. But Just put some electrical tape on the intake between it and the CAS so if it does rub then it would rub the rubber off it.

n1zm0
02-20-2009, 09:29 PM
you could wrap some neoprene rubber wrap around it aka hi temp aircraft rubber wrap, sticks to itself like tape once it tightens, but +1^ contact isn't good especially regarding the crank angle sens. i would see about protecting that first than the IC piping cause a new one is about 350 iirc, CAS cover is about 100 and that piping, i'm guessing under 50$?

or i could just sell you back the engine dampener you sold me and you can rig something up :D

SR240SX
02-20-2009, 10:14 PM
Yea I'm gonna find something to rig up so it dosent rub on it too bad.

Haha and thats you who baught the engine dampner? That was quite a while ago haha and I couldnt use that, It gets in the way of the turbo, Reason I sold it in the first place haha.

DonJuan
02-21-2009, 11:47 AM
Hey man, good to see what's actually going on inside that garage rather than what I see when I drive by.

to solve your problem, why not look into getting a thicker exaust manifold gasket? It might just get you the clearance you need.

SR240SX
02-21-2009, 12:29 PM
Haha yeah, I always see you or you're bro driving by, Well I cant really tell the windows are pretty dark on that aristo haha.

Yea I was thiking about using a thicker gasket, But who makes one? Maybe I'm just going to double up the stock ones, But not sure how much that will give me.

That would make no difference what so ever. It is because it is sitting to much forward, not an issue of vertical movement.

SR240SX
02-21-2009, 12:50 PM
The turbo is sitting forward more, But wouldnt layering a couple gaskets maybe briing the intake out more so that it dosent make contact with the CAS??

R154
02-21-2009, 12:53 PM
No?

How on earth does that make sense. By raising the turbo verticaly, by milimeters no less, you are some how going to move a 3" thick pipe backwards?

SR240SX

No no, You are thinking of the turbo/mani gasket?

I'm talking about the gasket on the manifold to block..lol

n1zm0
02-22-2009, 01:09 AM
Putting 2 or more gaskets there would probably cause some future headaches with more boost, they weren't designed to be installed back to back, even if u wanted to use the paper type, at minimum if u were going that way you'd probably want to cnc a spacer then use 2 block to mani gaskets before and after to be safe for exh. gasket leaks of any kind if you can picture in your head what I mean.:dunno:

SR240SX
02-27-2009, 01:32 PM
Thought about that too^^

It would probably cost allot for a flange to put in between anyways, I'll try one gasket, It should work.

Got some stuff done lately..I'll post pics eventually.

Im going to stick with my 2860 rs as long as i can possibly do it. Im thinking going to a bigger housing just to get a bit more out of it, but i havent even broken 20 psi yet, im sure i can make a nice round 300 to the wheels at 20 psi. I just love the quick spool i get out of it, after driving Aymans car with a gt30, im not too impressed, sloowwww spool, thank god his car carries to 8000 rpm or it would totally suck balls. I have full boost by 3000 rpm, and no lag thru the gears, and thats how i want it to stay.

Thanks! I haven't thought of green but when you mention it I could see it being green, not matte though. I've wanted to paint the centers of my wheels gold but I don't want to screw it up and then have a shitty lookin set of rims.

also, my car is probly a tad lower, with a bigass hks highpower, and I haven't drivin it in alberta yet... so im just wondering, do you scrape a lot? Can you make it over the massive speedbumbs in this province?

Wont be selling the silvia as just a shell, It has no motor in it right now and needs a few other things, I'm going to be selling it for 5k complete and running.

Thanks Bawlls! Just aslong as our cars dont end up looking the same im happy. The roads in Calgary are terrible, I scrape all over the place and speed bumps are a no no unless I really have no other way to go lol.

Where did you get the bodykit from/how much did it run you?

I paid $500 for it from a member on here a while back, I think the prices for kits usually run up to about $1000, especially if you're getting it shipped from the states. You can alwasy try buying used too though..

This car build is older than me LOL

Get that thing painted!, I remember first getting into s13's and seeing your car domain haha.

Love the new wheels, way better than the old ones.

As for how low you can go, depends on how much your willing to sacrifice in terms of practicality. There are people with bumpers on the floor here in calgary and daily so it is up to you!

Waiting for some decently warm weather...Doing it in a garage with no heater isnt gonna work. I have everything ready to go...Just need it to be kinda warm. Hopefully if the weather really does end up being nice I'm going to get it done

(All my opinion)
Are those 18's?

You need either some smaller tires or need to go more low.

something does not look right about it.

what are the tire sizes? drop a series and step up the width so it does not look like your rolling on balloons.

makes the whole stretch poke look wack.

plus trade tails with the other hatch haha.

other than that, tons of potential!

reason it looks funny, and I agree.

The front wheels are 18x9.5 -6 with a spacer and the tire is a 235/40-18....the tire is sooo close to the fender its already cracking them a bit. I maxed the camber plates out and its as low as I can go to be able to drive it. I'm debating slotting the top hole on my coils in the front to get more camber, But I could also get a smaller tire and be able to lower it. Thing is, a 215/35-18 on a 9.5 will look like a rubber band...and I dont like that look much..the 235's are already stretched

Scope951

Consider a 215/40/ or 45?

I ran a 215/45 on a 17 x 9.5 which gave me a nice stretch like yours without the height.

Have you test fit other tires? Your tires are simply too fat IMO hence the balloon.

go thinner with a higher series and you will get a more J stretch than the ballooning out.

If I had 18's I would try to tuck nearly the whole tire, 18's give tons of under body clearance on s13's.

Have you posted it on Zilvia yet? If so you probably heard this all before haha.

thanks to illmotion for the picture.

18x9 +26 with a 15mm spacer (Effectively, +11) in the front
18x10 +26 in the rear

regardless he has nearly the entire tire tucked. you go that low your car will wow alot of people.

The fronts dont look very tucked in that picture...Whats he running up front for tires? I know I could deff use a smaller tire...Just not really in the budget as these are basically new...I'm still trying to get a trade for a smaller size but something that isnt worn out

Do you and your girl friend sit under the wing for shade when it is really hot out?? Or do you perhaps use it as a table for your fast food after you hit the drive thru? That thing is huuuuuuuuuuuge.

I want to see it with paint, should look pretty solid. Didn't really read, but what color is it going to end up?
