Thats a crazy high risk sport. Im surprised theres not more serious injuries and deaths.

Watching the video it looked like he might have died on impact. If he didnt though, it didnt look like he got very good medical attention. They moved him pretty quick and didnt appear to stabilize his neck or spine at all so even if he was alive, they could have killed him when they moved him. Take a look at other forms of motorsport or even NFL football how long it takes before they move someone after a collision.

I was going to disagree with you on the medical attention, because when I saw the 'raw feed' video they were there very quickly and I thought they did a good job putting him on the backboard, and that they supported his head well while they moved him. I looked at it again, and you're right- they actually did a piss-poor job of putting him on the board, not supporting his head at all (like all they were worried about was getting him out-of-sight as soon as they could):thumbsdow

I'll weigh in on the medical treatment...I used to own the ambulance service that provided medical service to Blackfoot Motocross Park and Rocky Mountain Raceway.

He was rolled with out a collar which is a big no no, not properly strapped to the board and they ran with him off the field...the ambulance should have been brought to the site.

Plus no resuscitation was attempted on scene. I don't like to arm chair quarterback fellow medics but there is a lot I would have done differently.

I highly doubt the outcome would have been much different given the mechanism of injury tho.

Wow, coming from someone who says he has expert opinion how do you put a collar on someone who has a helmet on and is prone before you roll him? and do you still put a collar on a person when there is obvious misalignment?

Also I would like to point out the fact if you weren't there don't judge. Life over Limb, c-3 to 5 Stay alive you should no that! Resuscitate a patient infront of 30,000 people right, and there just going to love the idea of him being intubated or cryced infront of them to!

So I think you should pull your head out of your ass, because you over anyone should know that when you loose a patient whether you can help or not for the rest of your life you think "what if?" :banghead:

He died in the hospital, not on the scene of the accident. No resuscitation needed?

That was kinda my point, I would have attempted to resuscitate him.

Edit: and maybe they did once they got him back to the ambulance but there is no reason the couldn't have started on the track.

There is very few conditions on which medics can pronounce on scene and he met none of them.
