it's really simple, just goto home depot, get another one and follow the instructions for turns and such.

don't do it yourself, that is just asking for trouble.

call jim @ harris doors 837-8787

Tell him Justin sent you.

Yeah, don't do it yourself unless you know what you are doing.

Bad new is that it will probably cost you around $200 to get it fixed.

Also, if you replace one, replace both....it is usually just a matter of time before then next one snaps.

ya dont do it yourself, i remember when me and my dad work on it for 3 hours and still have to call and ended up paying 200$ and wasted time.

my dad is a pretty handy guy though, so i have no idea

Thanks everyone, I will keep the Justin's ref in mind.

When I went to check for again, I found a sticker called Action Doors on it. I assume they installed it originally.

I'll try them first.

Thanks again. The do-it-yourself seemed dangerous based on what I read so I don't feel comfortable with it.

It's a pretty common repair. I think $200 is about the going rate.

It's fuckin scary when these springs snap on a big door. Definetly get someone else to do it.

He did our garage door when our spring broke a couple days before Christmas. I highly recommend him also.

haha what a bunch of pansy's... They are no joke, but hardly an impossible feat for the common man. They are jacked to high hell so be careful, but they aren't terrible. The worst part is when you crank them too much, and the door won't go down, then you have to release some pressure... :nut:

don't do it yourself, its not worth the risk, also change both. I've seen people fly off ladders because those things snap.
