Airplanes have had some bad luck recently in New York...

Brutal. I wonder what happened because ground control completley lost contact with the plane, then alerted ground rescue very quickly. Apparently the plane was only 2300 feet off the ground at last contact...

Dash 8s probably have the safest track record for turboprops in the world, they haven't had any major probs cept for the landing gears (which i speculate was a confined Scandinavian airlines maintenance problem).

They said this thing was a year old and only had 1500 TTAF, basically brand new. Looked like it was snowing and foggy when i saw the clips on the news most likely into known icing conditions, well thats what the NTSB is for, to figure it out. RIP

First Cdn geese, now Cdn plane.

It's an Obama conspiracy.

RIP tho. Sounds like a de-icing problem?

rime ice build up on leading edge? eratic pitch and roll movements?ice build up in intake?

My guess.....tailplane stall due to icing.

The damn thing apparently came down in a near-vertical nose-down position.

I didn't read the article because I didn't want to, but if it didn't mention it there, one of the people killed lost her husband on 9/11....holy shitty luck batman.

I was watching this on the news today and some people actually DID do that because they could hear it coming apparently. Its incredible that only one person on the ground was killed after crashing into a residential area.

^ Thats because it came down more or less vertical, if it was coming down at an angle, more victims probably wouldve resulted.

unlike the 4 plane crashes on 9/11 this incident they turned up with major pieces of the plane, landing gear etc.

i guess only planes taken over by terrorists disintegrate on impact?

^ ya thats interesting..... I wonder at what speed it hit the ground at

dezmarez

well considering the one that went down in PA was being FLOWN into the ground...
and the one in NY FELL into the ground....
im sure there would be a pretty big difference in the speed

Best I can tell, it was only the Pentagon plane that was claimed not to have any debris left by retarded truthers. And even in that case there was debris found, it was just ignored because that's what truthers do. They lie. In the case of the plane that crashed into the field, one of the "proofs" that Lizard Jews shot it down with a secret jet was because "an engine was found miles away" (an engine fan was found to have rolled down a hill)

Try to keep your crackpot theories straight, ok ;)

Yeah, the speed difference between a Dash 8 and a 757 would be kind of significant....

Crash was a result of ice build-up and stall. Atleast it would have been a quick way to go. Pilot probably thought they could climb through it and just took too long to break through.

Flying up front in ice is probably the most scary thing that can happen in an aircraft.

Stall speed on a Dash 8 is around 70kts or 130km/h.
Crusie speed on a 757 (and it was going faster than that) is 450kts or about 850km/h.

During extreme conditions, ice can buildup behind de-icing boots and/or on the wings - this causes the airplane to become overweight and crash.

Ummmm explain? Flying through ice is pretty routine man...

When you are flying (not sitting in the back) and you see the ice start to buildup and you are trying to climb out before it gets too thick.... that is pretty uncomfortable. especially when you "should" have broken through but havent and the plane starts to feel heavy and slow.
