Hi everyone, I know that the car scene has always been good to us, and I am hoping you will help us out!

Here is the just of it: My fiancee Cara and I recently entered a local radio station contest (Vibe 98.5). It's to win a $98,000 DREAM WEDDING. The winners are picked by voting on the stations website. We were chosen to be a part of the TOP 10 couples (out of more than 500 that entered).

From Today (Feb. 13, 2009) until Feb.26, 2009, the voting is active. The rules state that everyone can vote multiple times, catch is, it's once per day, per IP address.

Please Help us win our Dream Wedding.

Here is some of our Volkswagen history.

A story from last years Great Canadian VW show. Written by Cara

Jason sure caught me by surprise!! Every year we travel together to Coquitlam, BC for the Great Canadian VW show, to enjoy one of our shared passions - Volkswagens!! This was, I believe our 3rd year attending this VW show and we love it! Previous years I have entered my car in the show, this year Jason entered his. When we were standing at the main tent waiting to hear the awards, the announcer mentioned he had something else to do before he got to the awards, he had a "special request". He asked if Cara Huck could come to the front. I thought, "ME? Couldn't be me, I don't even have a car in the show this year!". I was SO confused. I looked at Jason to see what he thought of this, and he just shrugged his shoulders like he had no idea. So, extremely nervous, I approached the tent, in front of hundreds of people! All eyes on me. (I had a sinking feeling that our friends who came with us on the trip were playing a trick on me in front of a bunch of strangers) That's when I saw Jason walking towards me through the crowd. He looked nervous, and I began to wonder. He took my hand and told me how much he loved me, and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. That's when he got down on one knee - in front of everyone!! I think my initial reaction was "OH MY GOD!!!!" I immediately gave him a big hug before he could stand up!!! I was so happy, and the crowd cheered. All of a sudden I realized that in my excitement, I forgot to put the ring on. A lady in the crowd shouted "She has to put the ring on!!!", and I laughed with a little bit of embarrassment. Jason put my beautiful ring on my finger. I was on cloud # 9. There was a photographer there for a Hot VWs who asked us to smile for the camera, and a few months later we were in the magazine with a caption under the photo of us that said, "She said yes!". Jason couldn't have done a better job. What a perfect day. :)~ Cara

And of Course, Pictures of us and our cars.....:D

Thank you to those of you who have voted!

I still don't quite understand why some people on this forum, and this forum only, are viscous. It's people like that that hurt a forums reputation. Just because somebody doesn't post on a forum every day doesn't mean that they don't use the site daily. I'm sad to see that race was brought into this as well.

I don't expect anyone to vote for us. Nor do I expect anyone to agree with what I am posting, but I think the car community as a whole been very accepting and quite helpful.

Being an Alberta based forum, I expect to see a lot of you around. We are car people, and enjoy going to all the shows. :(

Hey everyone,

thanks you for your continued support!

If you havent had the time to read the story pasted on our facebook group, and you have a few minuits, here it is;

written by Cara;

As some of my friends and of course my family know, 8 years ago, my dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which is a very aggressive form of cancer. He had been battling this awful disease for many years, and it just seemed to keep coming back, every time, a little worse. When it came back for the last time, they told him it was terminal and he had only six weeks left to live.

This was the hardest moment in my family’s life. The cancer had rapidly spread throughout his body. It had filled all the empty cavities of his chest, and moved into his spine. Once there, it found its way into his brain and eyes. The cancer was everywhere. My dad had been so strong through everything, and fought this awful disease with every thing he had. Once the doctors had exhausted all treatment options, we turned to family and friends, and asked for their prayers.

Miraculously a year passed, and the doctors decided to give him another check-up. They were shocked and amazed to find that his body was still fighting the cancer.

Eight years later, he is still here and is in remission. He truly is my hero. My dad later told my mom, sister and I that if it weren’t for us, he wouldn’t have had any reason to fight. One of his wishes was to be able to walk my sister and I down the aisle at our weddings. So now I am engaged, and my dad is still here. It is the biggest miracle I could have ever hoped for. Due to the aggressive radiation treatment he experienced, he sustained severe nerve damage in his legs leaving him to rely on a wheelchair. When I saw pictures of the resort in the Vibe wedding package, I noticed that the gazebo had a stone pathway approaching it, which would be perfect for my dad to walk me down the aisle! I was so excited! We’ve had to look for other options when searching for a resort for our wedding in 2010. My dad can’t push himself through the sand, so the beach was never an option. Now it can be!

No matter what, I believe that everything happens for a reason, and we feel so blessed just to be in this contest. It’s such an exciting story to tell our friends and families. I know that even if we don’t win, we will have an absolutely beautiful wedding, but at the same time I would love to treat my parents who have been so strong through so much, to our wedding day without any stress.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

~Cara

OMG this is getting sappier and sappier by the moment. when is this goddamn contest? can't wait to stop seeing this shit posted all over. and I suspect that once the results are announced, you won't be seen around beyond any more. it's funny how some of the members here are allowing themselves to be used like this.

after reading this sob story that your gf wrote, it's clear that things are getting a bit out of hand. so your dumb gf went through a bit of shit - who doesn't? it's pretty sad, though, when you see people using that to try and get others to feel sorry for them, as if their experiences are any different from anyone elses. you know, my immediate family has been through far tougher times (no i don't need to get into it right now), but that is the LAST thing i would bring up when trying to win some lame radio contest.

so, if you win, are you gonna have ty pennington MC your wedding and get everyone over-emotional and crying about how tough your lives have been, and how you struggled through together ,and because of that now you win 100k to have a big stupid cheesy fucking wedding?

I think its members like you who make beyond seem like a real bitchy forum. If you don't want to vote and feel like you are being "used" then stop clicking on the thread. The members of beyond will help if they can, and they are helping by voting.
Personally i don't care about their story, as amusing as it is, true or not, i vote because an effort was made to get votes, and why not. I don't even want to get into this... so

 to you

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Man 2 of the contestants Ryan and Natasha keep messaging me on facebook twice a freaking day to vote for them! Message is locked so I'm just gonna go to his page and tell him to fuck off!

I have to agree with your rant, but I did vote once.

But, then again, what "average" person can afford 100k on a wedding?

G/L etc. etc.

~Cara

Thanks again everyone,

Jason & Cara

Oh will you fuck off already. This is a car forum... why the fuck are you posting this shit that is obviously private in nature to complete strangers? Oh right, to use your soon to be father in law's fight with cancer as leverage on a car forum for some contest that you (hopefully) won't win. Simply fucking pathetic.

Fact of the matter is, you only joined Beyond to whore up votes. You haven't bothered posting in any other threads... just the occasional "omg thanks guys!" to try to garner more votes.

And now a story exploiting your father in law's fight with cancer is thrown out there... what else do you have? Did your dog die of AIDS? Or do you have a cousin who got molested? Maybe you should throw that one up there... just for shits and giggles.

Piss off already.

I voted, and will continue to do so, for the other couples.

Wow dude, apparently you didn't get the message that it's a dream to have her father to walk down the aisle with his daughter. That is another dream. Maybe you should just avoid the thread and spew your hate somewhere else.

Anyways, goodluck Jason - hope you get it because you deserve it. Ignore the haters.

So theoretically, what are you proving by posting here. If you vote, you vote. If you dont, then dont. Simple as that. I doubt anyone wants to hear how you think this is sappy, or shitty and all that. Go explain this to one of your loved ones, or your friends who actually care.

Those who do vote, thanks!

I don’t have a response to this post.

I usually don’t like to stir up forums, especially as a new member, but based on some of the comments that have been made, I am a little pissed off.

I took a quick look at some of your posts from the last few months..... Now since you are telling me to fuck off, and that this is a car forum, I was curious what you have been posting....

This is what I dug up:

Super_geo

Posts that you have made.

-Oil/Gas in 2009...

-Best place to buy ski boots?

-LSD to GPS for B.C.?

-Anyone on here do logos/business cards?

-Physics 30 Diploma Archive

-Kokanee Snow Dreams in Fernie

-Scrubs: Season 8

-Gift Cards...
-'80s night at Morgan's over the holidays?

-Buddy's sister...

-The more you make = the fatter you are

-Where to get nicer Christmas gift baskets?

-2,700-year-old marijuana found in Chinese tomb

-Stair climbing - McHugh Bluff (Memorial Drive @ Princes Island Park)

-So who's got a bunch of older brothers?

hmmm......

and the same thing goes for nonlinear...

a few recent posts that you have made:

-outlook express keeps freaking out (beeping)

-why does the basement hallway in mac hall always smell like dank nuggets?

-FS: 3' FTA Satellite Dish Tripod

-how to install xp pro from hard disk

-what is the best simple ISO app?

-where to buy vitamin water in bulk?

-modern mexican restaurant downtown

-where to get cheap rubber cases for 4th gen nano?

-Can I fix my washing machine?

-U of C lays trespassing charges on abortion protestors

at least you made a few car related posts;

-help me figure out what kind of vehicle i need

-how to buy a used car

To me it seems that both of you spend your time using a "car forum" to do nothing but babble about random stuff, that has ABSOLUTLY NO relevance to cars. My post is based on my fiancée’s and my love for cars. I even asked her to marry me at a car show.... I apologize if you feel that my post is not up to your standards.

Its people like you that lip off new members when they ask for help. What do most people join a new forum for? getting help from people with the same interests as themselves. From what I can see, both of you use the forum for nothing but bitching and useless banter....

Thanks to those who have helped us out! We really appreciate your help!!!!!

some of you guys are real assholes, give the guy a break... there is nothing wrong with what has been posted here and if you don't like reading something then don't click into the fucking thread. 90% of the threads on this site are useless (even the car related stuff) and seems to be over run by a bunch of high school losers who have nothing better to do than spout off at the mouth.

Jason, you and Cara have my vote and don't listen to the bullshit on this site. Comments like that are the main reason i rarlely post on this site.

Most of the people that I know that use this site enjoy it. I hear nothing but good things from them. There are quite a few friendly, established and knowledgable members. Those people are the only reason I decided to post here in the first place.
