Does any mod want to make a top gear vs 5th gear poll, just out of my own curiosity?

I'm pretty sure almost everyone likes Top Gear better. Its way more enjoyable.

Top gear, best car show ever. I'll still watch 5th gear here and there but it's not nearly as entertaining!

Top gear is way better than Fifth gear, I watch both though. :burnout:

Top Gear is nothing w/o Jeremy Clarkson though.
I think Fifth Gear has more depth in their cast, but all of them added still cant touch Clarkson.

Top Gear is enjoyable to a much broader audience. It comes down to the massive budget, ridiculous challenges, and the dynamic between the hosts.

Fifth Gear, while still good in its own right, is geared towards serious automotive enthusiasts that actually care about all types of motoring (as opposed to Top Gear who tends to show a 75% bias towards unattainable cars)

That said, Top Gear wins my vote all day and night based soley around their brilliant use of cinematography, awesome displays of driving skill from the Stig and Clarkson, and entertainment value.

Probably eleanor.
I always make sure to watch top gear, have been watching it for years. With fifth gear, i struggle to make it through one episode.

Maybe because their both Brittish shows? 5th gear is similar to Top Gear, just a lot more serious about it.

I don't think driving skill is debatable, as great as Clarkson is he's nowhere near the driver that Tiff is.

Tiff = Race Car Driver on TV
Clarkson = TV personality who races cars... on TV

Tiff's voice annoys me. Much of 5th gear annoys me. I do however like the guy with the beard he's pretty entertaining, and the young guy that is always doing the cheap products test. I only watch when Top gear is off season, and I need a fix; or if they are testing a car I really want to know more about.

I think Top Gear has a very unique cast, where you have Clarkson is one extreme (Ultra unsenible), May is another extreme (Ultra sensible), and Hammond is like a mix of the 2 that disagrees with them both. It creates a perfect storm of entertainment. My brother who isn't into cars at all loves the show. The production crew and values are extremely better as well, and the music chosen for certain scenes makes it an event when watching.

It's my favorite show, can you tell?

Tiff has raced in F1, LeMans, BTCC, etc. In comparison, Clarkson is a total hack who struggles to drive anything but the tamest of supercars on the most familiar of tracks.

Tiff is totally a better driver, no doubt.


Watching Tiff drive the McLaren F1 back in the day (1993?) was epic, his descriptions of the technology and engineering were simply awesome. The one part, where he just steps on it just a bit, and trees just start whizzing...wow.

Which is exactly why I like it.
Should my number ever come up I would consider myself to be more in line with Clarkson then a premier F1 driver.

A little off topic but does anyone know when or if Top Gear season 13 will be on this year? I have heard talks of the show having a huge budget cut back if it even does come on this year. :dunno:

I would not call him a premier F1 driver, he failed to get his super license at first and then only drove in three races barely making the grid.... but better then clarkson without a doubt. (as a driver only)

I voted top gear, they drive sweet cars and clarkson is pretty funny. And the stig is awesome. I always have to fast forward through the studio segments because they are just so lame and unfunny though, I just can't stand british humor.

Top Gear FTW. I just find the 5th Gear presenters annoying. Top Gear has such great chemistry and if I cared about who is the better driver you would have to compare Tiff to the Stig, not Clarkson as Tiff is 5th Gears "tame racing driver". Top Gear has the best jobs in the world next to Mythbusters.
