Not sure why there is a sub forum for computers, when the main forum is full of computer threads, but here goes.

Is there a way I can set up my desktop at home, so I can view the webcam while I'm not there, on my laptop?

I want to view it so that someone can't see its on... As in it wouldnt have a big webcam window open on it, while I'm viewing it, or really show that the webcam is in use at all on that end.. Or interrupt use on its end at all..... ;)

Not interrupting use on the local end as well? Not possible AFAIK. Every program that wants to capture from the device will need exclusive access to the webcam. Best bet is to get a second one for like $10 then hide it in something. But, if somebody can recommend a good program I'd be all ears. Right now I am running zoneminder in a virtualbox environment and sharing the camera to it, but thats a lot of neeless overhead.
