It's red. The head needs cleaning (you need one of those cleaning discs). Yes, it's a recorder/player. Comes with charger, gumstick battery, soft case, NO USB cable, optical cable, backlit LCD remote, headphones.

Yeah, go search ebay for "USB MD" or something, but I"ve never had any experience with them...

Nope, I looked into it.... but I figured optical was better so that's why I have an optical cable.
