Anyone picking it up?

The reg P.E. is $80 at Best buy, and $99 for this combo sounds like a good deal.

Thats a hot deal, i would have jumped on it had I known. But still $99 at Best buy isnt bad...unless Walmart is cheaper.

Does this still have the commentary by Sigourney Weaver? I'd buy the European version just because of the British guy narrating it, its much better.

I bought mine last Christmas at futureshop for $89.99 plus tax. Not a bad deal considering you're getting 6 blu-ray disc.

Is this planet earth "the changing earth"?

no animals or anything, just geographical footage and simulations on how the earth was created and such.

Or is this more animal stuff?

yeah ive just recently seen all 11 instalments of the planet earth series, narrated by the british bloke. Tons of underwater stuff if your interested.

The "british bloke" is David Attenbrough, a legend when it comes to narration. And yes, there are episodes dealing with water, like Shallow Seas and the Ocean Deep. Not sure what that other set is though.

What is it about these shows that makes them worth a hundred bucks?? :dunno:

it's the exact same as the planet earth that was released years ago, the only addition is the earth biography which you have been able to purchase on it's own for over a year as well.

If you watch Planet Earth, you'll understand the time, money, and effort that would have been needed to create such a widespread documentary. It's really quite an amazing series.

Just noticed this one.

Doubt its worth an extra $60 though for 2 more discs.

I got this for Christmas! It's absolutely worth it if you enjoy this sort of thing, and it's a great showcase for Blu-ray as well. I haven't had the chance to watch it all yet but it is seriously good stuff.

Buy it from Amazon.co.uk for $48 CAD shipped to your door in less than 1 week. I picked it up when it was even cheaper @ ~$38 CAD.

Refer to this thread @ RFD. (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=673883)

Notes:
1)It will play on our North American Region 1 Blu-Ray players.
2) The box says 1080i, but it is actually 1080p.

I did that but for some reason the package got lost and I waited a month for it. I just ended up getting a refund. Even if I order it again, its going to be another 3 weeks at least. Ive had 3 buds order from them too and it took 3 weeks to get here.

Plus from what ive heard is thatsome of the content on the UK version isnt as sharp as the one sold here.

Royal Mail is extremely fast if the item is in stock. Check out the RFD thread where almost everyone commented that they received their package in less than 1 week with the free shipping.

The HD film content is the same on both versions, both are filmed by BBC. However, you will want the BBC/Amazon.co.uk version because of the David Attenborough narration. Sigourney Weaver narrating on the Discovery version isn't bad, but why listen to her when you have the OG narrator of all nature shows David Attenborough on the BBC version.

The only difference in film quality would probably be due to the extra discs that they package with the various sets. But the original 4 disc Planet Earth is the same.

Ya well I have no clue what happened to my copy, its probably sitting god knows where - im just assuming it'll get lost again and waste another month waiting blah.

Narration isnt a big deal to me. Whats on the extra disc on the UK version?

I also went through RFD and got the BBC version. Only took about 10 days to get to me so definitely worth it, especially at a fraction of the cost and with the British narrator.

I would give it another shot copynpaste.
