i have done a few of those holes with just a drill and some tin snips

there is 2 layers of metal and if you are going to use a torch then you will have to take out your washer fluid reservoir

hmm. ill have to try that, i thought it would be thicker... what did you use. just a reg. bit? or was it a step bit?

ive got a hydraulic knockout set that goes up to 4" at work and they told me i could borrow it but if i broke it i had to buy it and its like $600. think this would work?

just a regular bit, something big enough to get the snips in there, it is 2 pretty thin layers of metal

Buy a Dremel rotary tool, make sure it's Dremel brand or something good quality! Buy the Dremel tungsten carbide metal cutting bit at Home Depot for under $20. That bit cuts the sheet metal on S13's like bread. EXCEPT DON'T USE IT ON ALUMINIUM! It's too soft and will get lodged in the teeth of the bit and ruin it. I had to remove the washer reservoir when I did mine. I've been too lazy to put it back in.

trust me, if i did not put a hole in the reserve then the chances of anyone else doing it is super low haha

Ryan get a 4" bi-metal Mastercraft hole saw. Should be perfect for the cold side.
Then get some vacuum tubing and slice a line down the middle and wrap it around the cut edge, to protect the pipe from rubbing on the metal.
This is what Im doing in a few days anyways.

protecting the cold side from that metal edge is a great idea, when i took my front mount off the 240 to put on the 180 there was a nice large gash rubbed out of the pipe... explains a lot of my power problems i had haha

posting incase someone finds this in the search

To protect the cold side going through the battery tray, take a rubber hose thats not too stiff, cut it lenght wise so it has a crack all the way from end to end, and then put it over the hole to act as a rubber gromet. To keep it in place, use some sealent from home depot.

Wish I could provide a pic, but I dont have one at the moment.
