Well I have owned this car since last Jun and it has been a bit of a pain. I first bought it and after 2 weeks of driving the water pump went out, replaced it and hit up the dyno at VEX in Red Deer for a baseline and it went again. We realized it was actually the clutch fan that seized and was the real culprit. This time it blew the head gasket aswell. I though ahh simple just throw a new one on but when we got the head off realized the block was a little warped and need to be machined so what the hell time to throw some nice parts in...

So the parts list for the engine and car:

- HKS 264/264 cams
- HKS cam gears
- HKS timing belt
- HKS fuel pressure regulator
- HKS fuel rail
- HKS boost controller
- HKS 1.6mm headgasket
- Denso Sard 800cc top feed high impedance injectors
- Dual Walbro 255 fuel pumps
- Haltech E11v2 ECU with plug & play harness (another J-spec perk)--------has been changed out for a Haltech Platinum Sport 2000
- Haltech 3-bar MAP sensor
- Tomei 86.5mm oversized forged pistons
- Tomei H-beam rods (with ARP L19 bolts)
- OEM standard sized main and rod bearings (properly sized and ordered)
- ARP head studs
- ARP main studs
- Garrett GT35r turbo with Tial stainless v-band exhaust housing (v-band to manifold and downpipe)
- Tial 44mm wastegate
- Blitz intercooler kit, with some Epic changes
- ATI dampened crank pulley
- Boost Logic billet timing belt tensioner bracket
- OS Giken STR2CD Twin Plate sprung disc clutch (looks so sweet)
- All new OEM timing covers and valve covers
- Epic Welding ceramic coated stainless exhaust manifold
- TRD front strut tower brace
- HKS Hipermax III coilovers
- Upgrade to the OEM larger brakes with all new calipers, rotors, etc.
- CCW SP500 18x10" and 18x11.5" wheels
- Toyo R888 265/35 and 315/30's
- "Toyota" emblem on hatch (J-Spec did not come with one)
- New 93-96 tail lights (97+ be damned, haha)

Ya it is on the smaller side but I don't want a typical 2jz dyno graph either...they are really gay in my opinion. Having 1200hp that is on for 500rpm isn't my idea of a fun time. This should come on pretty quick and have enough air for a fun powerband. I'm looking for 500-600 whp with reliability. Should be doable.

Looks like it will be a pretty stout setup. Looking forward to seeing this at the track and finally seeing a fast Supra go down the quarter.

Man it is cheap, RHD.

Most stuff was purchased through my business to promote my business in the future so I paid wholesale on alot of stuff. The wheels were about the only thing I paid retail on. I received staff price at Toyota (they built my motor) because my brother Jeff works there. It still cost a little bit though.

I'll probably get the glass European headlights. They've got extremely nice cutoff and look really good. They're quality stuff, they're not black like the 97+ lights, but they won't ever yellow, etc.

Ya I don't really care too much either way. I didn't want to cheap out or anything I just wanted a Supra and probably saved 12-15k going RHD. If prices would have been closer I definitely would have went LHD but instead was able to do alot of the upgrades for the difference in price.

So I had the head built with the following parts and a port and polish job by Rebello Racing in California. Turned out pretty good. I am working on my intake manifold design and should have the prototype cnc'd in the next week or so and be ready to flow bench it. We are going to compare it with the stock one on the dyno, so don't mind the stock dirty intake manifold.

Supertech inconel 1mm oversized exhaust valves
Supertech stainless 1mm oversized intake valves
Supertech dual valve springs
Supertech titanium retainers
Supertech bronze valve guides
Supertech coated and hardened solid buckets
New seals
Also threw on my HKS 264/264 cams and did up a catch can and polished my valve covers

Woot...

Updates!

http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/harness1.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/harness2.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/harness3.jpg

After experiencing voltage fluctuations and sensor glitches with the old harness, it seemed prudent to replace it. I have a feeling the harness was the reason we ended up needing to replace the block and a piston and rod.

My brother decided he wanted to build something, so he made a new manifold and changed out to a GT42R instead of the GT35R that was in there.

Building the collector:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/collector1.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/collector3.jpg

Putting it all together into a manifold:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/newmanifold1.jpg

The new GT42R mounted in place. Welded up the coolant ports on the upper water neck, polished it and then added a braided coolant line for the turbo to the bottom of it:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/newturbo3.jpg

Complete with a Tial wastegate:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/newturbo2.jpg

Also got a new Hypertune intake manifold, with fuel rail and some 1200cc injectors (HKS rail and prior Denso Sard 800cc injectors would not mount to the new manifold unfortunately :():
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/hypertune1.jpg

Custom aluminum gas tank with baffles, allow for better fitment of the pump setup, and more room for the large lines that are needed for feed and return:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/triple_pump2.jpg

Triple pump setup:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/triple_pump1.jpg

TRD Widebody, vents removed on fenders, along with rear side markers and "teeth" on front bumper. Had a Top Secret hood on the car as well, however it will not be used, the stock hood is as light and fits more with the "clean" look of the car now that the vents, etc. have been removed from the kit. Car is being painted Quicksilver FX:
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/trd_widebody1.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/trd_widebody2.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/trd_widebody3.jpg
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/trd_widebody4.jpg

Car now has a limited cage (can also see the battery relocation and the fuel pump relays):
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/interior_cage1.jpg

So the Defi gauges came in, as did a couple other things for the car. Looking forward to the gauges, as my brother had some other temporary gauges in there, that were terrible. The Defi ones seem like such quality pieces, really like them.
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/defigauges1.jpg

To handle the higher power from the upgraded engine and the GT42 versus the old GT35, the OS Giken twin plate STR clutch is being replaced with a triple plate. It's a nice design from OS Giken, with a single hub design, which makes aligning the clutch a bit easier for one. Only disappointing thing about it versus the STR is that the STR had sprung clutch discs, making it very nice to drive on the street. I've no doubt the OS triple plate will be acceptable as well though.
http://jeff.supramania.com/jza80/osgiken2.jpg

Also going along with the triple plate clutch is the OS Giken LSD. Looks beefy.

Well, things have been moving along quite slowly as Jason is out of town frequently, and I am lazy. That being said, the glass, spoiler, bumper, tail lights and emblems are on the car, so at least it's something to see!

Sorry for the crappy pics. The car is now dusty and I forgot my camera AGAIN... so I had to use the cell. I will get it clean and remember to bring the camera one day.

Its true. This car is insane in person. It needs to be seen to realize how nice it actually is.

Ya could lower the front a tiny bit and the back about 3/4". I'm trying to find some wider rears for better fitment (I think Jimmy found some 345/25/19 continentals) then I can adjust it to a perfect ride height.

The rear might be able to go a touch lower, it's safe where it is since the car crouches like crazy when you're on the power.

I think with the wider tires the rear will not need to be lowered at all. The wheel sits nice and centered in the wheel well, IMO.

If so...
