Uneducated people...

jk:D

Rev motorsports is one premier italian dealer for calgary. they are dealers for ducati, aprilia, and some other italian bycicle makers. They have pretty much have the full duc lineup and by next year they should have rsv's and more aprilias. Theres also another Duc dealer in calgary, but Rev is the only one i know for Aprilia.

RSV's are pure superbikes, even less road worthy than say a R1 or Gixxer 1k. They extreme riding positions, cost like $30k plus and uncomfy like a bitch.

Tooooo expensive a bike/manufacturer. Very nice but not worth the money. I bet it's also expensive to fix. IMO

I saw a documentary on west coast choppers and they were living week to week. they would have to wait for customer checks to clear to pay their suppliers and employee's. Not a very good way to run a business. And this is their peak. i dont think west coast choppers can get any more popular than they are thanks to discovery channel.

are you mental, they are very "ridable" you might be thinking about a ducati 998 or 999, the standard rsv is $14,000.00 and the r factory model is $17,000.00 then there is the nera or dream series all carbon that goes for $37,000.00 they are more comfortable and more stable at speed then my friends 954 plus low end torque, and there are little things you get for one thing, quality, brembo brakes, ss brake and clutch lines fit and finish that is way better than most out there they also have tremendous handling

for the money the R factory is a good deal, ohlins, carbon, oz wheels, brembo radial mounted brakes - very nice

from someone who came off a honda, take it from me, they may not be for everyone, but i strongly suggest a test ride before you knock it

about as much to repair or maintain as most jap bikes out there, also i know alot of people who lost 2nd gear from wheeling bikes, (929,954, r1 and gsxr1000) if you ever saw the size of the gears in a aprilia trans, a person would have to really do something wrong to do any damage to a aprilia transmission

price of a rsv can easily go past 20,000 CAD realistically. They will be more expensive to maintain. Not sure bout reliability but Ducatis suck (well not suck, but not as good) for reliability compared to japs.

This is an old post and come to think of it, i really do believe i was talking about the ducs, they are really uncomfy like a bitch!! Seeing as how the new rsvs arent even out yet, how could i say anything bout em?? my mistake.

my local dealer has 5 in stock in dollars its 14 for a standard 17 for the r factory

Ckruzel is correct on all points.

Aprilia's aren't for everyone, but when my old Ducati 888 is ready to be turned into a living room sculpture, I will get the RSVMille. I am so goddamn glad to see them starting to be available in Canada as of this past year. I want one so bad I would kill for it.

Sure, they require a little more money to buy, but they are enthusiasts bikes. And you wont see yourself coming from the other direction every day, like you do on a Japanese sportbike.

I ride Italian, and have since 1978 (interspersed with several Japanese bikes, a couple Harleys, and a Spanish bike)
The bikes that are the fondest memories are the 1977 Moto Guzzi LeMans, the 78' Ducati 900SS and the 1995 Ducati Monster.
They are not for everyone. however!
