Does it have to be a pci slot card? or that long black slot (forgot the name of it)

Have no clue - it's going onto a P2 400mhz computer if that helps at all.

I think you mean ISA.

Naw, that may not help. Maybe discribe the color or length of the slot the card would be going into.

i'm pretty sure it would be a PCI slot.

It's a PCI slot.

I went to futureshop.ca, there are network cards ranging from 15 dollars to 90 dollars.

What is the difference? I'd rather get the 15 dollar one if it'll work, but is there anything wrong with some of these cards being so cheap?

get the cheap basic network card if all you are doing is surfing the net.

the more expensive ones are just able to do more things like turn on your comp from a remote locations, stuff like that. Useless to most people.

The better ones do processing onboard, while the cheaper ones offload alot of the work to the cpu which will slow down your system. I can hook you up with a 3COM Intel based chipset NIC for cheap...like $20 if you would like one. PM me and we can talk.

Uh, Linksys is the cheap one. And, I'm almost positive that LG doesn't make NICs.

Intel and 3COM are the way to go. They will work under any OS including Windows, Linux, and BSD.
