As you can see from the pictures, the supercharger does poke through the hood. If you desire, a hood may be purchased from Stillen that is moulded specifically for this application.

Ever had it dyno'd?
It'd be nice to know HP/TQ numbers for interested buyers...
And what's the gas mileage like?

Here are some pics of the Stillen Hood. In all my searching, I have not found another hood manufacture that can fit this thing...

I have not dyno'd the car. I have taken very accurate (ask me if you need details) Gtech Pro measurements before and after, showing about 40% power increase over stock...

I'll see if I can find those charts to post....

The compressor was installed on the vehicle at the 100,000km odometer reading, by myself and by a close friend of mine. He is an aeronautic engineer, pilot and mechanic. In addition to the full servicing of his personal aircraft, he owns/pilots a Cassutt III and manages a full race team, competing at the Reno Air Races in Nevada. As for myself, I am a member of that crew.

Between the two of us, we have countless hours of engine building experience to a VERY high level of standard.

I hope this breathes confidence into the quality and standard in which this work has been performed.

That said, I have had the majority of work on the car performed by Hyatt Infiniti in Calgary. Aside from the compressor installation, I have performed the exhaust installation (bolt on), a brake change and a two oil-changes myself.

All service history will be made available upon request.

I haven't had it dyno'd. Just the butt dyno.

I have taken it to race city speedway on 1 occasion. I did 3 runs. The first was against a stock Acura NSX (won by 1/2 second). The second was against a stock BMW M3 (won by 2/10 second). The third was against a new Vette (Tie).

Gas mileage has not changed since the installation of the compressor. If you get on the throttle often, I'm sure it would, but I'm getting the same MPG I always have.

Honestly, I'm really not sure. It was over 18 months ago. I want to say high 13's? Maybe?

Does that sound right?

Take that with a grain of salt...

I'm not a big track guy. My points of reference were the vehicles I went up against.

I'll ask my friends and see if they remember... Or dig up my Gtech Pro when the streets dry up and find out for sure.

Just out of curiosity. It looks like a roots/screw type supercharger so I am wondering how the intercooler in the front bumper works? I thought those intercoolers only worked for turbos and centrifugal type superchargers because they don't sit right on top of the manifold.

**Note: Please don't confuse the intercooler seen in the picture of the black G35 with that of the Stillen setup. The black G35 has a twin turbo set up and you are seeing a large air-to-air intercooler.

The intercooling on a roots style compressor works a bit differently. Opposed to a conventional air-to-air exchange, it uses an air-to-coolant-to-air exchange. Although this is more complicated, it allows for more efficient heat transfer and therefore smaller radiator units (due to the higher specific heat capacity of water than air). The biggest benefit of the roots style is the VERY small volume of charged air that needs to be developed on demand, creating instantaneous power with zero lag. Step on the accelerator and the torque is instantly available. This equates to one or two car lengths relative to the guy with the turbo next to you.

I have attached an image of the compressor unit. The bottom plenum box houses the intercooler. It would probably be more accurate to refer to it as a heat exchanger. The heat accumulation occurs within this box. The inlet for coolant can be seen in the picture below. The outlet is located on the opposite side. The heat dispersion happens at a radiator unit mounted at the front bumper. You can see a glimpse of it behind the lower grill in the first picture I've posted. There is a fluid reservoir and high flow pump in the mix.

I hope that answers your question.

^^^Yeah that totally helps. Does sound more complicated but I guess how else would you do it? Thanks.

No prob!

I will also mention that the Stillen Supercharger kit is warranty friendly. The Stage II kit can be installed without voiding factory warranties. The kit installed on this vehicle is the Stage III kit, and the warranty period has passed, but I want to quickly stress that the kit has been built specifically for this car. The computer is pre-tuned and locked out from modification. It is a very safe and reliable kit.

Stillen makes an upgrade to Stage IV which includes a smaller pully, larger injector, larger fuel pump and upgraded computer. I believe it targets 8.5 pounds of boost.

Boost levels have been measured at 5.5 pounds in Calgary and 7 pounds at sea level. Lambda values are well within safe operating limits. I have never had a single problem with the compressor or engine. It runs like a top with many years of reliable driving remaining.

I'm thinking about it...

I don't know if it's worth it or not, but yeah, I'd be willing to look at that option.

The charger is $6400 USD new... make me an offer.
