Mary Brown's is THE place to go for chicken and taters.

Chicken On The Way is very good as well!

As for Fritou, I tried the one on Saddleridge and wasn't impressed by it.

That's just my two cents.

hahaha sadly KFC is the best we got in this city...

Chicken on the way is good for their fritters but the chicken well its okay..... Although they do cook it to the point that you can actually eat some of the bones... I don't know why you would, but the option is there :)

I've only been to the Mary Brown's on Blackfoot but it is gross. Greasy as all f**k and the place looks it hasn't been cleaned since the day it opened. KFC sucks too, years ago it was pretty good but their chickens are all so small they must only be a couple weeks old. I don't know of anywhere really good for fried chicken in this city.

They use peanut oil, which doesn't burn at high temperatures, so the you never get that bitter taste, as you do with KFC, Mary Brown, and everywhere else.

Best chicken in the city IMO. Halal as well for the Moslems that enjoy chicken too.

But yea,. its all about the oil and the care they put into making your meal.

KFC, Mary Browns, Chicken on the way, is all catch and miss depending on the timing, mood of employees, when they changed oil last.. etc.

Fritao, is always the same. Locale is ghetto, but stay in and eat your chicken. Fresh food FTW

Olive/Yum Yum are far from GOOD Korean style chicken.

You guys need to try Bonchon or Mad chick in NYC lol... but in all seriousness, both of those are "mediocre" conventional fried chicken with a Kimchi sauce.

The place that I like, is a ghetto chain called: great canadian pizza & fried chicken on 8th ave by Crack Macs

It seriously is better than Chicken/Churches/KFC by far...

I tried Chicken on the Way recently, the Kensington one. It was absolutely disgusting. The fries were so greasy they were extremely wet, and would drip if you held them up for more than a second. The corn fritter was the same, so greasy I couldn't even eat it, and I enjoy greasy food once in a while. It was honestly inedible. The chicken skin was gross, and equally as greasy. I peeled the skin off the chicken and just ate the meat, I couldn't eat anything else. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but I'll never be back, it was actually inedible unless you wanted to simply drink a cup of pure grease.

KFC is still plenty greasy, but not NEARLY that bad.

Chicken on the way is awesome, until they wrap it up and the steam from the hot food runions the crispyness of the chicken and fries.

ask them not to wrap it up next time

While I know it doesn't help right now, Anju had (and will have) some of the best KFC I've ever had. It was located on the west side of downtown but closed in June so that the chef, Roy Oh, could relocate to a better location. The plan is to reopen in early 2014, however, Roy is collaborating with various restaurants in the meantime. He's put on Sunday Dinner at Model Milk and has collaborated with the Cheezy Business food truck as well.

His gojuchang wings are incredible.

Tried it a few weeks back, surprisingly good actually. Tried the original wings and the spicy chicken breasts, both were very good. The breast meat was juicy and tender and the wings are just the right size. The batter is a bit on the heavy side so I would definitely recommend going with a couple friends to try everything out.

Not NEARLY as greasy as KFC? How is that even possible?

With that being said, I hope KFC comes out with a super hot version of their grease. I'd be all over that:)

It was seriously dripping with grease. KFC (when I've had it) isn't literally soggy and dripping with grease. It's usually dry-ish on the outside, but plenty greasy still on the inside.

Chicken on the Way was like nothing I've seen before. Pick up a piece, and just watch the grease drip off. It was disgusting. I talked to a friend who was there recently and experienced the same thing, so I don't think it was just a random bad day.

Fries were so greasy I would consider them inedible (they were basically mush). Corn fritters dripped grease as well, I couldn't eat them, and I've eaten some pretty gross food before haha.

i tries olive chicken tonight. i may be a minority when i say that i will not be back. the fries were overly salty. the sweet chili sauce chicken flavor was pretty bland considering the entire container was covered in sauce. i will say that te original flavor is OKAY; definitely crunchy but, again, bland. luckily, i had some sriracha.

Went to Mary Brown's for the first time last week. Pleasantly surprised. Skin was crispy, meat was juicy, seasoning was excellent. Better than KFC, I'll be back.

Have to try Chicken on the Way again, only had it once a few years ago and don't remember it at all. My corporate chef at the time swore by the place though, thought it was fantastic.

Deep pot with oil will work just fine. People are just nervous to do it and generally have no place to put the oil afterwards.
