And I dont mean cutting down the tree and splitting the stump like mr2mike.

More like a wire tuck for the engine bay. I dont want to attempt this on my own

a wire tuck is just lengthening and shortening wires, to place them in spots where they cant be seen.

crazier tucks involve move fuse boxes and stuff.

And i was gonna come into this thread and say that all tucks end up with your balls in your ass.

i've sort of started one that i haven't quite finished (for a honda though). i was just extending wires to hide them.

it depends how intense you want it to be. you could do a simple wire tuck with just the harness being hidden which is relatively simple (just extending wires) and getting rid of some connectors or replacing bulky connectors with smaller ones.

if you want to attempt this, i think it would be best to get a spare harness personally, and then figure out where you need to extend wires and by how much, and where you will run them, and then its a matter of cutting soldering in wire and lots of heatshrink. this way you can always switch back if you're in doubt of your skills.

then there is also full blown, hidden reservoir/hidden hardlines, etc. cut out the firewall and reweld to make it smooth, shave, fill in all holes etc, relocate battery wire tuck. this will take a lot more time/effort and downtime on your car. also may not be worth it depending on how often you drive it...for example with hondas you hide the fusebox where the heater core is...so no heat.

I am in the process of doing all that, but I have my engine out, so it makes it easier...

I don't know if anyone has heard of Chase Bays... He had cover of Honda Tuning a couple of months back... He travels and does wire tucks on Hondas.. He's done a TON of super clean work.

Click on this link then click on the car called "Impression". Then go through the pictures till you see the engine. Now that's a tuck job.

Can't post pic because right click won't work on the picture.

Well thanks for figuring that out for me. Next time don't be a dick about it. Some people are not as good with computers as others.

Not to make Honda guys jealous, but the MR2 supposedly has enough slack that you can move the fuse box in the engine back to the trunk with no wire extensions.

Although, I'm running low on trunk space as it is with the water injection kit. Don't think I'll do this.

...and Redlyne wanted to get the EMS fuse box cover.

Ya I wouldn't suggest trying to move those things unless you're in a well heated garage. Plastic cracks super easy in the winter when removing clips and wires down want to flex.

I wouldn't think that it makes it much easier on the engine harness tuck. It does allow you to paint the engine bay up so it all matches when you do move things around. Otherwise, you'll do the move so people can really see mismatched paint??

I might get one done by Chasebays this summer if I end up doing a photo tour sort of deal in the states...

Such sick work..

It's also a good idea to weld/fill in all those holes in the engine bay where harnesses may have gone through in the past etc.

Examples:

No it just makes it easier to to plan where to mount shit. And run the harness under the intake manifold.

I don't know about other color MR2's but my engine bay is not mismatched in terms of color, as my car is black and everything else is black.

I plan on painting it anyways if the funds allow.

I have those fuse box covers too, never used, so they might be going to waste now lol.
