Hosting a party this weekend and I need some ideas on what to serve as finger foods aside from chips and dips and chicken wings. What is your must have when hosting a party?

swedish meatballs, cheeses, fondue is the way to go for little finger foods, leave an oil fondue going and put together a nice little meat and seafood platter

veggie platter with ranch ftw! hit up M&M's if you want to take the easy route out, they have a large variety of finger foods available. Spinach dip is the shiznit

Potato wedges, cream puffs, shrimp rings, sausage rolls, stuffed mushroom caps.

(M&Ms sometimes has really awesome prices on their shrimp rings like $2.99 compared to Safeway's $8 for the same size.)

I think wings are a bad choice for party food

I always make a Taco Dip and it's always a favorite.
Other suggestions would be Fruit and Veggie Trays, Meat and Cheese Trays, Potato Skins, Mozza sticks,...
just think of foods you get on the appetizer menu :)

Spring Rolls! Cut them in half with a diagonal cut and serve them with plum sauce.

Or soemthing ive always wanted to do is to make mini burgers and serve them on dinner rolls...

I agree, the bones are a problem unless it slips off easily (it usually doesn't). Skewers are much better, thigh meat if you like dark and breast meat if you like white, cube and marinate it, broil it both sides, it's really easy.

Worlds easiest spinach dip

Go buy

One of those big loafs of sour dough bread
Thing of Spinach dip
Bag of shredded cheddar cheese

Put dip into a low flat bowl. Put cheese on top. Microwave till cheese is melted. Sounds pretty simple, but it is soooo good. Re melt cheese as necessary.

Make a Bread Bowl

Easy way

Gut a Circular Sourdough Bread Loaf and break the bread into pieces, buy 2 containers of sour cream, put in the middle, buy 2 packages of dehydrated vegetable soup and "strain" the dry vegetables, mix the powder with the sour cream and have guests dip the broken apart bread pieces in.

This is always a huge favourite when we entertain.

Your guest will love it.

We often buy 2 loafs, one just for extra bread to dip

try this and let me know how your guests enjoyed

Homemade Guacamole and Salsa... So easy and soooo tasty

Recipe:

Guacamole

2 ripe avocadoes (slightly squishy to the touch, this is important!)
1 large tomato, fine chop, drain excess moisture
garlic, 1-3 cloves, minced (your guests will stink but as long at you all stink together..)
1 small red onion, minced
juice of 1 lime
jalapenoes, minced (I use jarred pickled jalapenos so they are always on hand but fresh is very good)
handful of cilantro, chopped
salt and pepper

1. Peel, pit and mash the avocadoes but leave them slightly chunky
2. Add the tomatoes, garlic, red onion, lime juice, cilantro, salt and pepper and enough japalenos to taste.
3. Refrigerate for an hour. Serve with multigrain tortilla chips

Salsa

Same as above, just sub the avocadoes for more tomatoes

Fruit Salsa

Same as the gaucamole but omit garlic and substitute fruit (mangos, grapes, kiwis, peaches, plums, oranges, strawberries, etc) for the avocados and tomatoes.

This is really good on grilled fish or chicken too!
