alright guys, new rules etc.. are up, not a real big change but it just helps to shut things down for a bit and then put it up fresh so there isn't so much confusion in the comments thread etc..

There has been some concern about what kind of pictures people are using to put in their backgrounds, I'll take the time right now to simply explain what you can/can't put in the background.

First, DO NOT try to use another one of the pictures from the given chosen pictures as your background if you have already chosen your 4(ie..increasing the amount of chosen pics to 5)

2nd, you can basically put ANYTHING you want as a background and blend it in, you could find some wallpaper on the internet that you like and then use that if you want or create your own background using a picture or 2
(try and not make it too car related.....ie, if it has to be some piece of a car in the background make it be a really small feature item of a car...kind of like ryoslide did by just using a speedometer only) Other examples could include, a boost gauge, a sub, an amp, a shift knob, an exhaust tip....something abstract like that (a pic focusing on one single piece of a car)

Do not try and use any car picture (other than your 4 chosen ones) which would show a car(s) in the majority of the picture (ie...like a pic of some car from a show/meet or something...)

Those are just some suggestions...I encourage you to create your OWN background design using a bunch of shapes/pieces from your 4 chosen pictures. Work on other pshop skills than just "chopping" parts from one car to another because they will come in use when future contests like this come around again :thumbsup:

I'd like a quick clarification of the rules.

If we have selected FOUR images, and then also select (or create) an image to be incorporated in to the background...can that selected (or created) image be added to one of our FOUR images to create the background? In other words, does the 'selected' image have to FILL the ENTIRE background or just a portion thereof?

if you are extremaly good at ms paint make a pixel wallpaper. some of the best pixel art was made in ms paint

and about the size...for now it has to be in 800x600 so it will be fair since most people will be uploading their pics via attaching the file to their post...if you win then maybe speedtech will ask for a larger sized image

I wasn't sure what to do really. Had that idea come into my head as soon as I saw the contest so I made it. Maybe I should have made the background images lighter. They're 30% opaque now...

nah...30% opacity looks great....any lighter and it just mainly looks like colored bars in the background

I kinda wish I would have changed the way the winner is selected in this contest to involve beyond members more and be even more fair...

I should have made it so that Speedtech chooses their top 3 favorite entries and then those go into the finals on beyond where users could vote for 1 week and then the person who gets the most votes wins the exhaust

That way there is more participation in the contest from those who lack madd pshop skillz
