I made some wicked progress on my new rig today.
She should be good and ready for sunday, just a few little things to finish up.

Looking forward to it, I haven't been out since fall and my Trooper had issues in 4wd so did most things in 2wd.

How wide are teh trails? Are they wide enough a stock truck could make it through without having to worry about paint?

Alak
03-04-2009, 11:35 PM
Yes. There should be minimal chance of paint damage. Although theres no garuntee that the recient snowfall hasnt bent over a few branches in way of the path.

My advice is usually two coats of turtle wax. Everything just glides off.

No one wants to be there after dark so I would guess the goal would be to get out of the trails by dark at least. But it's still 1 hour from Calgary. It doesn't look like the last run had any real destination so this one might be the same.

If you are considering coming I would say don't plan to be home before 6pm unless you know the trails yourself and can leave whenever you want. However, you never know what might happen you could end up being a lot later.

the main trails were fine, as long as you have a front and rear tow point, it'll all be good

man, after seeing the pics and vids I really want to drive down from edmonton to come out wheelin' with you guys. I was thinking about coming this weekend but 5cm's of snow forcasted for saturday means the QE2 will be nasty. plus my parking brake cable snapped the other day  but im determined to come out at least once before I sell the truck and finally get an STI

I think that is the determining factor... a little too cold for me.

Snowboarding seems more attractive at the moment - definitely going to look for a future run though.

I have a showing and open house + Danish's carpet is going in and I should be there to inspect the final before the sub gets paid.

That too bad Jay.

We still have quite a few in. Who do we have that knows the area? As long as there is someone to lead, we're a go.

Alak? Hopefully you are still a go since you know there area. Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks,

I'll be going, in my Red Land Rover Discovery 2. I got the truck all ready today and I'll be doing a final check tomorrow.

I think I have in mind a run to the falls then back up east. I think that run is about 3-4 hours depending on how everyone fares.

Theres short and long trails. Most are a there and back approach.

Dont forget your full size spare tires or at least a spare!

Bring Lunches! I'll see about bringing some firewood and we can have a good ol campfire lunch.

Dont be afraid to pack your truck full of gear and tools and any spare parts you might have, fluids, gasket maker and other things your truck might need. Im not saying this to deter anyone from coming as the last 20 times I've been out nothing has happend to my truck or anyone elses, but anything can happen, just like in the city. Only a tow bill is alot of cash from wiaprous (unless you have AMA).

Does anyone have a mini 12V air compressor by chance? Mines away for warrenty. Airing down helps alot.

I do, (well technically it's Sprockett's) I had trouble with it last run and ended up airing up in Cochrane. Maybe I was using it wrong who knows!

I am on the fence on this one..
Might just wait until next weekend. Gives me more time to test out the new truck. Plus weather network is calling for better weather next weekend.

Myself and Sprocket are out. My jeep sprung a pretty good coolant leak and while we hit a range road today, I busted a front tow point and he wrecked his finger using the winch.

The Forecast is -15 degrees and add windchill it's going to be -25 Degrees.

Lets postpone this to a Later date!

This way, next time the weather will better and more of us will come out.

Usually is warmer there than down here. I guess we'll postpone it to a later date tho. I might just go anyways. I've had -15C in Calgary and get to the falls, its +4C.

I am definitely planning on going out next weekend.
