insane doesn't really cut it. i wouldn't say it's stupid .. or would i? I think being caught brings it in. Very fast indeed, but the story has it.. he got caught, so really nothing to brag about i guess?

The driver faces a fine of up to $2,000 and the gain of six demerit points. The vehicle was impounded for a week under the province's street-racing legislation.

What ever happened to 'lose your license if you're 50 over'?

All told... $2000 and 6 demerit points for going 140 over the limit? I'd be stoked if that's all the punishment was!

Don't forget about the bum-raping your insurance will give you.

^ No kidding. I though the OPP could crush your car if you were caught racing?

That's what I thought too. But I guess they've reduced it to impounding your car for a week?!?

Not a bad deal. That's like claiming that you'd get the death penalty but then later change it to some community service.

At 250 km/h, why would you stop?

I don't blame him, it's hard not to pull those kinds of speeds with that car.

$10k? I got clocked at 260km/h about 14 years ago. Got the ticket knocked down to 200km/h in a 90 zone (highway) and it was only $600.

Inflation sucks! haha

All I have to a say is that most Canadain driver suck in general. I am from Czech Rep next to German and have been on the Autobahn coutless times. Speed dose not kill people shitty driving on the other hand dose. I would love to see way more money put into divided highways making are road ways safe and when thats done either bump up the speed limit or get rid of it all together on certain highways. Oh and i have been to Toronto many times and I am pretty sure that people to 250km on the 403 daily.

Don't worry guys, I'm sure he could totally control his car if everyone just stays out of his lane.

$10k sounds like more of a deterrent.

I also wonder how they caught him... he should have just kept going haha.

I also wonder how many of us have gone 250km/hr on public roads.... haha

But not for long, I passed it right after I got there.

I think I might have too. Speedometer topped out at 240km/h though.

I bet there are a lot of people who have gone that fast. After all this is a car enthusiasts forum.

i like how it says "also owns a high performance motorcycle". well any 600 will do 250km/h. what does it have to do with how fast he was going in his car. i don't normally see people going over 140km/h, if i was to guess their speed at least.

Wow that cop must have been having a super bad day...

About 2-3 years ago now, I was doing about 260 down the highway, A little ways down the road was a Police cruiser parked on the off ramp of an over pass, The moment I realized what the car was I slammed on the brakes I started to stop and came to a full stop before he even turned his lights on. The RCMP was a nice guy, told me how fast I was going, yadda yadda yadda, pink ticket, no car getting towed away, no license revocation, shortly after stopping me he sent me on my way... While in court the CP hands me a 300 dollar fine and no demerits...

I walked out of that court room feeling like I had won the Lottery.

Some you win, Some you loose.

Yeah 10k seems like a lot for speeding! I got clocked at 200+ in a 70 zone got a pink ticket. No tow, they didn't even take my license. I got a lawyer to fight it and got off with a 400$ passenger stunting ticket with no demerits lost.

Haha! As cheesy as that comment is I love it!

Honestly driving that fast cops should be the least of your worries. That little 6 inch hole in the road turns into a 4 foot chasm. Them nice cheap summer tires can easily blowout at that speed. So would you even pull over for them lazy ass porkers? If your willing to break the law to such an extent you should go all the way. Tell your friends about the bad ass high speed chase you got into.

I'd like to know the circumstances before passing judgement. I don't know anything about Toronto highways, but if I compared it to say.... Deerfoot. If it was deserted and I was going that fast, I don't think it would be THAT ridiculous.

...would it?

(Most will say "yes". Nevermind)

Deerfoot is a good run at the South end of the city. However the farther north you get its terrible to even try the speed limit. Id rather do 22x on the east bound or mcleod trail. Yes there are Piglets. Try 3:30 am or 7:00 Pm >.<
